  1. Support for HTTP/2 on APACHE (only) without using nginx as proxy! And Server Push!

As we have to use apache, i don't like to go for an aditional nginx proxy just to simulate HTTP/2 ;-)

I think apache is capable to handel HTTP/2 :-D

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, this request contains several different suggestions, and it's not technically possible to properly handle them inside one request.

    1. "Support for HTTP/2 on APACHE (only) without using nginx as proxy!"

With nginx as a proxy for apache, it is possible to serve HTTP/2 requests, but for some reason, this is not suitable for everyone. We kindly ask you to vote for another request and provide any helpful additional information as a comment to let us know your specific scenarios. Support for HTTP/2 on apache (without using nginx as proxy).

    2. "And Server Push!"

This technology is not widely used. Google has already removed support for the technology from the Chrome browser. Currently, we do not have plans to add this functionality to Plesk. Please create a new request and let us know how this feature should work in terms of workflow, in…

PHP5 support is over, HHVM are happy about the direction of development of PHP7.x and do not plan to do anything regarding support for PHP7.x
In addition, many performance tests show that PHP7.x not inferior to HHVM.
Therefore, we consider it inappropriate to support of HHVM.
    Thanks.

  4. Backport Fail2Ban IPv6 Support to Plesk Onyx 17.x

As of now, feature with 178 votes is available in Plesk Onyx 17.9 Preview only: https://plesk.uservoice.com/forums/184549-feature-suggestions/suggestions/17924536-fail2ban-now-supports-ipv6-please-upgrade

It would be awesome to have this feature available on earlier versions of Plesk Onyx without the necessity to wait until Plesk Onyx 17.9 becomes stable.

After an internal technical review, it was decided not to implement CSF support in Plesk due to specific limitations. Instead, we completely overhauled the existing in-place firewall. This renovation now includes country-based blocking out of the box, along with easy distribution of firewall setups across Plesk for Linux servers using export and import via GUI and CLI methods. Check it out:

If you want to request more firewall-related features, create a separate request.

While we wish it as much as you do, this is not possible to deliver  Docker at customer level at the moment as customers can gain root-level  access through the Docker CT and it will be an ultimate security breach.  The only generic way to deliver such function is wrapping all containers  of a customer into a sort of VM similarly to Kubernetes “pods”, but Plesk itself runs in VM commonly and cannot produce extra tier of VMs. So we are very much limited by Docker itself and we are exploring how we can overcome it. 7. Mailpile support (secure mail server option)

In light of the Snowden fallout, I hope that Plesk will add support for Mailpile (http://www.mailpile.is) or something similar for secure e-mail.

    Thank you for your input!

Mailpile is meant to be a local e-mail client which is installed to the personal computer (https://www.mailpile.is/faq/#wha) and secure your mail by fetching it from server, deleting from server and securely storing on local disk. It is not considered as webmail client which is installed on the server. It works with mail server over standard protocols (SMTP, POP3, IMAP) which are supported by Plesk, so you may install use it without any limitations.
Though, as it has the web interface and written on Python, it may be installed to a web server, but it’s not recommended for security and privacy reasons.

Unfortunately, we have no plans to integrate it with Plesk panel.

  8. Allow Let's Encrypt to validate over 80 or 443 (not just 80)

We're very excited to see Let's Encrypt in Plesk 17, it makes secure sites much, much easier. However, port 80 is not open on a number of our servers for security reasons and it would appear the Plesk coding for the API to Let's Encrypt forces the use of port 80. Let's Encrypt supports validation of domains over 80 OR 443, but Plesk is requiring 80. The only workaround is to open 80 to the world so it can be validated since Let's Encrypt does supply a list of public IP's their traffic could source from.

Since PEAR is more or less obsolete and Plesk 12.5 introduces PHP Composer support, we do not believe that we should spend our time and resources on supporting PEAR. We suggest everyone to switch to PHP Composer. If you want to discuss this, please use our forums (forum.odin.com). Thanks.

Thank you for your input! We do not plan for adding support of SPF record as a resource record (RR).

    [...]
    3.1. DNS Resource Records
SPF records MUST be published as a DNS TXT (type 16) Resource Record
(RR) [RFC1035] only. The character content of the record is encoded

  12. Start the backup only if your server has the specified amount of free disk space (in megabytes) *

From the comments it became clear that the reason for this feature request was that only a limited number of digits could be entered into the input field. This however has long been resolved. Technically it should be quite easy to enter MB instead of GB, too. Changing the field to GB will actually decrease flexibility, because the granularity decreases. For that reason we are closing this feature request.

  13. Add new site or modify existing site without Apache restart /graceful restart

For example, Odin uses a system where all the website information is stored inside a NoSQL database, and apache just reads this data with a special module:

  14. steering allowed SSLCiphers (negative >noCBC; positive >only GCM) for all System-layers (mail, Plesk-Login, Apache, Nginx) via Plesk

Optimizing the Quality of SSL-/TLS-Encryption at Plesk-driven Servers is very complicated...

... while the importance of a high-level encryption - not only since Edward Snowden - is of considerable importance.

    please investigate:

    http://serverfault.com/questions/550247/sslciphersuite-disable-weak-encryption-cbc-cipher-and-md5-based-algorithm

    and

http://www.kuketz-blog.de/nsa-abhoersichere-ssl-verschluesselung-fuer-apache-und-nginx/ (best article / only available in german)

Please implement the possibility for defining/steering not/allowed Ciphers and not/allowed SSL-protocols directly via PleskPanel.

This function should include ALL System-layers like: mail, webmail, Plesk-Login, SSH, PHP- or JAVA-Apps/Tomcat, Apache, Nginx, ...

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Over the course of nine years this feature request has only received a handful of votes - although we had merged it with a similar request to get the full number of votes for both. We basically understand the need for top level security, but this feature seems not to be popular among users.

Even the rather extreme kuketz-blog article says: "The technology for protection against spying is available – but hardly anyone uses it." which is another indication that hardly anyone is interested in specific configurations that harden servers to the extent where powerful players have difficulties reading traffic.

Plesk allows using a "perfect security" configuration, but it seems that only very few individuals are actually interested in it and understand why this can make sense in some cases. As a responsible administrator who wants to provide perfect security to users you can implement it into your server along…

  15. to crete a GUI for the spamfilter.

Within the GUI it should be possible to manage the most common tasks of SpamAssassin like the following:

    • sa-update set up a cronjob for downloading new rules and scores automatically
    • sa -learn spamfilter training for side/server wide configuration -managing of black and whitelists -adding custom rules and scores

A GUI for the spamfilter in conjunction with the planned GUI for the Greylisting will help administrators to reduce the load of incoming spam in a more comfortable way

  16. Customizable Plesk notification email address

Plesk has the ability to send notifications. However, with the latest version (v18.0.32) these are sent to my "External email address" of the admin user. But since I as admin user enter my Apple iCloud email "name@icloud.com" there, it is used as both sender and recipient and all notification emails end up in the spam folder of my iCloud mail.
It would be really great if you could separate the administrator email from the notification email address and change it specifically so that email notifications are sent from "Plesk@domain.tld" to the external administrator email "name@icloud.com

  17. Return backup file name features to 12.5

I know that the backup feature was rewritten in 12.5, but it is very difficult to easily identify various server and individual site backups on a remote FTP drive now that all you see displayed in the UI is the date / time. The backup features of 12.0 that included adding a prefix to the file name and also being able to actually see the file name is sorely missed.

There are a number of reasons. The length of the paths to store backups  is limited on Windows, complication of the structure due to the  introduction of incremental backups, simplify backup representation in  UI (after increments appeared, file names do not become human readable).
Support of prefixes makes life very difficult due to these reasons, and  the rotation of backups based on prefixes in general has become a  puzzle.
So we went to a small degradation, which may be solved elementary by  user – putting backups in its own subdirectories. You can discussion  this issue on our talk.plesk.com .

  18. Ability to decrypt Plesk customer passwords

Plesk 12 encrypts passwords in the database. You currently have a program "mailauthview" which decrypts the mail passwords, so please create similar programs for ftp, database and customer logins.

We have our own customer control panel which uses database connections to display their passwords. This no longer works because passwords are encrypted. If customer forgets passwords, we have no choice but to login and change them all again. This is very time consuming and a waste of time, if we could simply decrypt the passwords.

  19. Virtuozzo Linux 8 support

Since Centos is unfortunately no longer available in its original form, it would be good if appropriate alternatives were available as a host OS.
Here Virtuozzo Linux 8 is ideal because they have many years of experience in this environment and we know that the quality is right ...
The risk that VZLinux disappears from the screen is also lower than with the various newer RHEL clones which apeared lately.
Apart from that, VZLinux also offers migration paths from Centos 7 + 8 to VZLinux 8, which makes life much easier for many administrators ...

After a detailed analysis, we decided not to invest in support/test/fix/announce VzLinux8 compatibility. This decision was made based on extremally low usage for VzLinux7 for Plesk. Unfortunately, our plans are as follows.

Virtuozzo team might have their own plan to test/announce the scenario with Plesk product, it’s up to them.

  20. Resellers service plans: Hiding resources that are not allocated to them

If you create a reseller plan with e.g. "Data backup and restoration using the server repository = off ", the reseller is still able to make his own service plans with that particular permission enabled. Then, when they assign the subscription to a client it gives a notification that the subscription cannot be synced as it is using resources not allowed by the reseller plan.

This is frustrating our resellers as many Service Plans have things like "Backup and Anti-Virus Management" ticked by default, resources that we have denied them in the Reseller Plan. They then have to change each…

We are declining this as a feature request. Instead we have assessed this to be an internal product issue that needs to be fixed. It is being handled under internal ID PPPM-13864. In case you have questions at the support desk or want to follow-up on this case in the change log, you can use this ID for it.
