Provide a GUI updater for MariaDB and MySQL
Would it be possible to update the mySQL or MariaDB to newer version in the plesk panel like it is in cPanel?
Thanks in advance.
We will consider this functionality in upcoming releases if it will be popular.

I'd like it with the graphical interface - thats the only plug and play solution for me.
Would be nice, cause the Version 5.4 of Woltlab-Community-Software needs to have the most recent version. ;-)
That would be really usefull.

It would be very nice if Plesk offers a graphical user interface for upgrading MariaDB. It's a process most system administrators have to do but there is a high chance of getting errors. It would be nice if Plesk could take care of upgrading MariaDB with making a backup before starting, remove incompatible packages and the old version of MariaDB and then upgrading MariaDB and the databases. They could probably use the implementation of cPanel since they are now owned by the same company.
we want Extensions which automatically update msql or mariadb to the latest version
add the update of mysql 5.7 and mariadb10.***
with your new plesk updates

Plesk doesn't ship MariaDB, it only downloads it from original OS vendor repo. You could install another MariaDB version with Docker container.
To use latest Moodle software, please configure MariaDB default settings to use 'innodb_file_format = Barracuda' and 'innodb_file_per_table = 1' as default with 'innodb_large_prefix' set to 'ON' and 'default-character-set = utf8mb4'
THANKS A LOT!!
Actually this has become very urgent for me since I use Moodle Learning Management Software in its latest version which requires at least MySQL 5.5.31 but finds version number 220.127.116.11.0.32.0.8.1 - Please upgrade MariaDB to at least 5.5.31 asap - or at least make sure, that Moodle can read find the version number 10.0.32-0+deb8u1 that my Onyx17.5 says it got can be read out correctly by programs like Moodle. Thanks a lot!
MariaDB version 10 is supported on Plesk Onyx 17.5.3 but not installed. It would be easier if Plesk had a selector for this as for PHP version used on the server. If you want to update please follow this link on Plesk technical support https://support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/213403429-How-to-upgrade-MySQL-5-5-to-5-6-5-7-on-Linux#centos7
I did not try it yet, so I do not have any experience to share, but if its from Plesk it self, it should work.
