Be prepared for Debian Buster
Last time, it took the Plesk team quite a long time to support the new Debian version. As Debian Buster will probably be released in the following months, it would be very nice if a new Plesk version was available shortly after.
Hi,
I’m glad to inform you that Debian 10 “Buster” Support for Plesk Obsidian is now Available with Plesk Obsidian 18.0.28 update #1!
Note: we do not consider support for any dist-upgrade scenarios for Debian 10, the best way to move from old Debian or other OS is Plesk Migrator.
Just to remind, you always can check ETAs for new Operation Systems support in Plesk Obsidian FAQ: https://docs.plesk.com/en-US/obsidian/faq/#s1q6
Full Changelog for Plesk Obsidian 18.0.28 Update 1 is here: https://docs.plesk.com/release-notes/obsidian/change-log/#plesk-18028-mu1

Not exactly user-friendly, but at least possible: https://talk.plesk.com/threads/instructions-on-upgrading-an-existing-debian-stretch-with-plesk-to-debian-buster.357293

I agree. The "dist-upgrade" feature is one of the biggest perks of running Debian. Now you're telling us it isn't supported?

Thanks for finally supporting the current Debian version.
But no support for a migration must be a joke. Do you really expect us to migrate ~30 servers with hundreds of domains to another 30 servers?!

Hi,
The average life cycle of Debian is about 3 years active support + 2 years LTS support (which is some kind of compromise between lower support efforts and security). It is really a good idea to use the distro in the first 3 years when we get full support. Almost an year after the initial Buster release Plesk does not have support for the current version. So please do it. In fact Debian 8 which is currently fully supported by Plesk will stop receiving even LTS security updates in the end of June 2020.Furthermore the versions of all packages in Buster are frozen in March 2019 and there is a plenty of time to test before the Date of release.
If somebody from the management ever read this you can make a reminder for Debian 11. A lot of people will appreciate it.Kind regards,
Nikolay -

Of course "supporting a new operating system requires a large number of tests", but:
- Debian Buster was several months before the release date available as testing - in general I would expect that vendors use the time before release to update their software and do not wait until general availability
- Debian Buster was released as stable more than 9 months ago and is still not supported by Plesk
- Plesk does not offer a feature release date when user can expect Debian Buster support - I would expect a more obligatory statement than "we're working on this"

I already think about switching to ubuntu due to faster feature releases like openssl - TLS1.3 support or Brotli in Apache.
And long wait after Dist release makes it even harder... so pls go fast @debian releases.
thx; BUSTER :)

The trust lies more in Debian than in other Linux distributions. A combination of Debian 10 and Plesk Obsidian would be very desirable.
