  1. Mastodon

As people are fleeing an erratic Twitter the free, decentralized but federated alternative Mastodon gains popularity. Support of Mastodon as a one-click-installable server application would be very nice.

    Thanks

    Hi Roland,

    thank you for your input!

I understand that you wish to use the Mastodon server-side application along with Plesk. However, with Mastodon being a third-party server-side component and not being a part of Plesk, an extension to work with Plesk would be needed to develop by the makers of the Mastodon network. Maybe you can suggest to them to look into this. Plesk offers an API for extensions so that they can integrate their product with Plesk and get it certified as a Plesk extension.

  5. add option to have dedicated php instance on a domain alias

I have noticed that on main domains and subdomains this is a option but when you add a domain alias this option does not seem to be there.

I would think this would be something useful to have especially if you are like us and have multiple domain alias pointing to one main site for files but wanting separate domains under one account like for us it is multiple ecommerce websites.

As an alias is only a pseudonym for a domain, it cannot have a separate PHP instance. For that reason we must decline this request.

Instead, to have a dedicated PHP FPM handlers for additional domains that are using the same website directories and files, you need to add these domains as separate domains but with the same document root directory in "Web Hosting Settings".

  6. Virtuozzo Linux 8 support

Since Centos is unfortunately no longer available in its original form, it would be good if appropriate alternatives were available as a host OS.
Here Virtuozzo Linux 8 is ideal because they have many years of experience in this environment and we know that the quality is right ...
The risk that VZLinux disappears from the screen is also lower than with the various newer RHEL clones which apeared lately.
Apart from that, VZLinux also offers migration paths from Centos 7 + 8 to VZLinux 8, which makes life much easier for many administrators ...

After a detailed analysis, we decided not to invest in support/test/fix/announce VzLinux8 compatibility. This decision was made based on extremally low usage for VzLinux7 for Plesk. Unfortunately, our plans are as follows.

Virtuozzo team might have their own plan to test/announce the scenario with Plesk product, it’s up to them.

  10. Switch Fail2Ban to global Apache log if "Piped logs" option is enabled.

As for now, Fail2Ban parses error logs on a domain level. If there are more than 500 domains on the server and the "Piped logs" option is enabled in Apache configuration, it would be more efficient for Fail2Ban to automatically switch to a global Apache log.

The request is based on the false assumption that it would be more efficient to parse only the central access_log if many domains are hosted on a server. In reality in such a scenario that log will grow huge very fast. This will increase parsing time of Fail2Ban considerably and can lead to stalling the service. Instead, for Fail2Ban it is much better to split jails, and on servers with many domains even split Apache jails into parts by domain start letter A ... Z so that the individual Fail2Ban process can finish swiftly and free resources again for other tasks.

For that reason we decline the request.

  14. Different SSL protocols for domains

Currently, Apache in Plesk can have only one set of SSL/TLS protocols (SSLProtocol defined in /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf).
In theory, it is possible to have different SSL/TLS protocols for each vhost if they are listening on different IP addresses.
Add this feature in Plesk to be able to define different set of SSL/TLS protocols for different vhosts.

  18. Add hidden mail forwarding option

There should be an option to forward mail without letting the customer know it is enabled (to the extent permitted by the law).

Currently, it is possible to hide all mail settings from a service plan or subscription. More granular control to hide mail forwarding only, or an option to enable it separate from the customer's own forwarding settings, would help monitor malicious content.

  19. Plesk Fire Wall to upload faster, and allow incremental changes

Plesk FW when having lots of rules, is SUPER SLOW, because the rules are handled by a bash script, whereas compiled executables which ia a lot faster, is not used. This is asked to be changed.

Also, please make sure the Fire Wall script does not call a DNS query for the host of each IP, as mentioned here:
    https://serverfault.com/questions/85602/iptables-l-pretty-slow-is-this-normal

Also, as fail2ban may add a CIDR ip as x.x.x.x/12 within a blink of an eye, I am asking for Plesk to implement such incremental change ability on the Plesk Fire Wall As well

    fail2ban-client -vvv set nginx_errors banip x.x.x.x/12
