Plesk sends notification emails after authentication to the mail server.
Plesk should send email after authentication to the mail server ( local or remote)
Both Plesk 12 for Windows and Linux are able to send out notifications with empty white list for local mail server:
- Plesk for Linux uses sendmail CLI (so noe need in SMTP auth)
- Plesk for Windows uses own, internal SMTP mail account for local mail server or a custom SMTP mail account in case of external mail server

Let me clarify . We have email address noreply@xyz.com and we have 10 plesk servers . We want to all 10 plesk servers send their email form noreply@xyz.com . so we need define mail server, username , password ( port, method ,..) for Plesk own notification emails .
For little webhosting companies which everything is on one plesk server you may right but in my situation the domain xyz.com is not hosted on any of 10 plesk servers so plesk may not send emails from xyz.com

I dont know. I dont see the need for it either, I am just trying to explain what I think the TS wants :)
-
Hm, but would be a practical benefit / scenario of sending notifications only via external server if local server is available anyway?
-
Tozz commented
No, because that is a server-wide thing. I think the TS wants is that only mail sent by Plesk (eg. overuse notifications, domain creation, etc, etc) are send using an alternative SMTP server.

Hi Tozz,
Isn't it the same as when "MSMTP relay only mailserver (SMTP client)" is chosen (no MTA installed locally)?

Sergey L.. What the TS means is that he wants to be able to configure an _external_ SMTP server for Plesk notifications, including the ability to use SMTP authentication.
You are correct that Plesk currently sends mail through the local mailserver, but the TS doesn't want that. He wants to be able to use eg. the Gmail SMTP service.

With no SMTP Authentication bypass available to the PLESK system, scheduled reports and notifications are not being delivered.
How do you set up / configure PLESK to work with a mail server that requires ALL outgoing mail be authenticated against the mail server?

I think he means he wants Plesk to send its e-mail (eg. overuse notifications) using a pre-configured SMTP server with the option to set authentication. Currently Plesk uses the local mailserver, which might cause eg. SPF checks to fail if Plesk's IP-address is not listed in the SPF rule.
So, e.g. if Plesk is configured with a Gmail address as Administrator, it could send out e-mails using Gmail's SMTP service.
Personally I would rate this with 0 or -1, but thats just me :-)

I still don't get it. As Plesk already sent a notification through local mail server, which authentication on other mail servers is meant? Incoming email is not authenticated on any mail server, only outgoing email may require authentication.

Plesk send some notifications for domain creation, subscription creation, overused policy, daily reports,... These emails send from admin email address which has been set for plesk server.
So the sender of Plesk email could be whatever that a customer want. After it, plesk uses local mail server and sends email without authentication. In many mail servers relay is only available for smtp authenticated users and email sent by plesk will never reach to the destination.
I think admin should be able to define mail server, username , password ( port, method ,..) for Plesk notifications. -
Sounds unclear. Could you clarify?
