Enable chrooted sftp for more than one user per account
If I use FTP, I can make as many users as I want. For various reasons, using FTP is not optimal at my workplace. I'd like to be able to let each ftp user I create log in with chrooted sftp.
I'm able to modify /etc/passwd and /var/www/vhosts/example.org/etc/passwd to make it work, but doing that manually kind of defeats the point of using a tool like Plesk...
Specifically, I give the ftp user the same home directory, and shell as the initial sftp user has in each passwd file.
This is a valid request, so we’ll look into it. There is no ETA at the moment, but we would really appreciate you voting for this request so that we can accurately assess its popularity relative to other features.
The original request contains a manual solution, so, we consider to automate it. Please, add a comment if your case will not be solved with that solution.
Thanks in advance!

Yeah, it's a really sad state. They raised license costs and basic security features like this don't get implemented for years. I am migrating all my servers away from plesk as their focus seems to be milking the cow with (additonally paid) extensions.

Yes, ESSENTIAL !! Why have no feedback on this feature ???? I have to migrate our customers to other solutions such that FTP is no longer suitable for our time. Thank you everyone for putting a new comment, even if it has already been done. We really need to flood this topic with messages. Thank you all.

C'mon. FTP needs to die a death. It was imagined in the 1970s before even the www. Before even colour television for goodness sake.
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc114
It's literally the first protocol I block at hardware firewall level purely out of spite that people refuse to move on.
SSH/SFTP is absolutely required.

Quite important security issue ... I'd really like to have this sorted out... Otherwise allowing another FTP User than the main one access to nonpublic areas is really a security concern.

A component, only for Manage users and folders.
Think about a company. Lot of departments. Every department has a manager who made interchange of millions files with Clients and Suppliers (normally documents). The Manager, can créate accounts (and folders) for every Client and Supllier (and other Customer or user). This will simplify IT support. Web bassed or via client (how FileZilla) -

I think this topic does not neet votes - it is essential. Otherwise you force your customers to break security by giving out ftp only.
Dear PLESK STAFF, could you please help me to find the full documented manual solution?
I can not find it in the docs or help articles.
Except modifiing the /passwd. But how? Is my solution secure?
Will my solution be overwritten with the next automated change some where else? -

@Plesk Staff - Is there an update on this? With IoT moving towards more secure environments this is quickly becoming a necessary feature.

Wow, this is a huge problem. I have users on various platforms that only have SFTP and FTP as an option. They travel. They use public WiFi. I've been learning and building everything out with Plesk, only now to find out that I might need to move to cPanel.

This feature would be welcomed because more and more customers are asking for this and to say "i´m sorry, its not possible due to system limitation" would customers go and search for other solutions. So i´ve voted yes!

Hi Plesk team,
We were having a hard time believing Plesk does not support more than 1 Sftp users, after trying all options in Plesk and finally finding this thread.
More than 5 years have passed this has been raised and nothing has been done towards a (secure) FTP solution?
Cheers

Being desesperate for having at least more one sftp account per domaine. It becomes very difficult for account management when you have various administrator with different access rules
