I believe I've encountered this bug today.
Plesk instance is hosted on Azure.
We've configured the public IP with a DNS name and also configured reverse DNS.
However an outgoing mail from Plesk is getting rejected by Blueyonder (Virgin Media).
It says that the Plesk server is presenting the internal host DNS name in the SMTP message and it does not match the external DNS record.
I'm assuming this is the same problem and needs fixing urgently unless there is a workaround!?
