  2. Prevent Plesk's background services to communicate to services on the internet on servers that are placed on a private network/intranet .

Create a feature that enables switch off background services on Plesk like Extension catalog, Application (APS) catalog, KA service to trying to communicate with external Plesk's service servers on the internet.
It will be usefull on Plesk servers that will be placed on internal/intranet networks were access to the internet is not possible, since requests to external services makes Plesk UI slow as the connection to external services fails.

There are no plans to make Plesk a web server control panel for servers that are not connected to the Internet. For licensing, updates and server functions such as SSL with OCSP stapling it is also required to have Internet access. As this request did not become popular during the past years, we must decline it.

  3. Inform users automatically of weak password usage (emailaccounts, FTP, installed WP installations, etc.)

I think it would be an excellent idea if there was a feature within Plesk which actually checks (once a week or so) for weak passwords and informs users about weak passwords in general.

We still have a lot of customers who use (extremely) weak passwords. To check these manually (even with a simple written script) is to time consuming.

This should be done automatically nowadays. Therefor such a feature is really needed in Plesk.

It should check for weak passwords for:

    • weak passwords used in emailaccounts
    • weak passwords used for user created databases
    • weak passwords for hostingaccounts
    • weak passwords…

This is a technically impossible task, because none of the passwords are stored in plain text, but they are stored as hashes. The length or characteristic of a hash does not reveal whether the password is weak or strong. For that reason it is impossible for a software to determine which passwords are the weak passwords and which are the strong, hence users with weak passwords cannot be identified.

If a directory is not within document root of a website, it cannot be  accessed by the web server for that website. No further information was presented, why a web  server password protection is needed for a directory that the webserver  cannot access. We must decline this request.

  7. Make notification "the following domains will also be removed" bold when removing main domain

When removing the main domain on a subscription, there is a warning appears: "the following domains will also be removed" that lists all subscription's domains.

This warning is not highlighted or marked, it can be easily missed. Removing the main domain on a subscription may lead to serious issues so please consider marking the warning bold or highlighted somehow so that it is more visible and it is clear that with removing the main domain, all other domains on this subscription will be deleted. Thanks!

Perceptual psychology has proven that bold font faces only marginally or not at all enhance a user's attention. Italics are a bit better, moving objects are a bit better, a combination of all including a different color can be a bit better, but there are also experiments that have shown that such messages are still neglected by users, because the driving force in user action is "fast, fast, fast, do it fast". Also users get accustomed to such prompts quickly, so that even if we displayed a neon pink flashing sign in italic bold font face very likely soon such contents will be neglected. We must ask: Why not pay attention to what you are doing in the first place? Server administration always requires a high alert state of mind. A warning message IS already displayed and it IS already clearly warning that data will be deleted. There is no…

This feature would require to replace official PHP versions by a special Plesk PHP fork, including maintenance of all such versions, updates and ongoing development just like PHP developers do it. Regarding the very low number of votes that this feature has received during many years, such an enormous effort is hard to justify. For that reason we must decline it.

  10. Allow to keep access logs on the server even after the domain is deleted

When a domain is removed from Plesk, all corresponding data is removed as well. However, due to government laws, it is needed to keep access logs for a year, even if the domain is removed from the server.
Please add some option to keep such logs.

No further information on which government regulation of which country requires storage of such logs for a year after a domain has been removed was given. Also in many countries the opposite is required, think of EU GDPR for example. Finally, you always have the option to not do delete an account right away, but to suspend it so that all data remains available. We must decline this request.

  11. OCSP stapling for webmail in Plesk

Add a feature to enable OSCP stapling for webmail of domains that will increase webmail security.

This feature is already available for domains in the SSL It! extension.

The purpose of OCSP stapling is not increased security. It does not provide increased security at all. The purpose is to avoid an extra DNS and GET request to the trust center by the user's browser, hence OCSP stapling makes the overall surfing experience a few milliseconds faster. While this can have a (minor) effect on websites, it will not have any recognizable effect on webmail. It will actually only increase the load on the server, because now the server needs to validate the SSL cert, but for the very few requests that a webmail user has, it won't speed-up his webmail experience.

As this request also did not gain popularity during the past 3 years, we must decline it.

The impact of including mailing lists in backups is minimal in time and storage space consumption. There is no benefit but saving a few milliseconds and a few bytes. Also this request did not become popular through many years. For these reasons we must decline it.

  14. Plesk advanced notifications settings

It would be great to add an additional tab in Tools & Settings > Notifications > Settings with some additional option:

    1- Method of delivery:
1.1 - Default (Using Plesk server)
    1.2 - External SMTP Authentication

2- Possibility to set a senders email address:
    2.1: root@hostname
    2.2: Plesk Admin email
    2.3: Custom email

    3- Customize "Reply-To" email address

I could see that some of these options were already mentioned in your UserVoice, but the optimal solution is to add all of them together.

Here some of these existing requests:

We agree that in an ideal world, adding all features at once would be perfect. Unfortunately each change must be carefully considered, planned and developed. To ensure a high quality we prefer developing functions step-by-step. We need to decline this request, but please feel free to vote for the separately listed features or add new feature requests regarding specific functions.

Actually, there should not be any manually added included configuration files in that directory. Instead, custom directives for Nginx or Apache should be added to the "Additional Apache and Nginx Directives" fields in the "Apache and Nginx Settings" dialog.

This feature request has only received a very few votes through many years. For this reason we must decline it.

The purpose behind this feature request seems to be a download option for backup sets. However, the local backups are not stored in sets, but in a collection of configuration and content files. AS this feature has also only received a very few votes during many years, we must decline it. Instead we suggest using the download option that is available from each backup that is listed in the Plesk Backup Manager.
