   Since Plesk 18.0.51 users have an on-demand button "Refresh usage stats" on their statistics page. This updates the disk space usage charts. DB usage can already be seen in total in that pie chart, but also separately per database on the "Database" page. 

   If "memory" usage means RAM usage for you, please comment how RAM instant RAM usage of a single domain could have an impact on server operations, because such usage would change greatly within milliseconds.

2. Ability to change favicon.ico for Plesk on permanent basis

   At this moment you can change favicon.ico by replacing /usr/local/psa/admin/htdocs/favicon.ico, however it will be replaced on Plesk update.

   It is also not possible to make it permanent using custom theme from Plesk branding guide.

   Please make a way to customize favicon.ico on permanent basis

   We are happy to announce that the ability to Track Email Delivery is now available in Log Browser 1.8.0. In the new version, Plesk customers (as well as Plesk administrators) can track email delivery and manage deferred emails right in the domain card (under the "Mail" tab). If an email has been deferred, the reason also be shown.

6. keep up with .Net core and install Node.Js on Windows

   I have Godday and they are saying They are limited by Plesk on what frameworks are available. The version that Godaddy is offering is stuck on out-of-date .net core frameworks that are no longer supported by Microsoft. the most recent I can run is .net core 2.0 for crying out loud 5 is already out and 6 is only a few months away.
   Also ??? why ??? no Node.JS options available on windows? I'm a .net developer and most on the site are portfolio sites or small sites that I really could use the most recent .Net framework and Node.JS. I don't care about anything else, don't need WordPress or any other app, just simply .net core <latest> and Node.JS <latest> that's it.

7. Add SSH2 extension to PHP default extensions to improve security

   Please consider add SSH2 extension to PHP default available extensions.

   To be able to use FTP over SSH (SFTP) the SSH2 extension must be installed on PHP.

   IN SHORT: SFTP (SSH2 EXTENSION) = SECURITY

   SFTP means secure file transfer via Secure Shell (or SSH), hence the name SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). The two devices (server and client) communicate via a single channel, that of SSH, in which the remote file management commands are sent and where the file transfer takes place. By default, the only port required for SFTP is 22, the same as SSH.

   SFTP implements the same specifications at the cryptographic level supported by SSH, also TLS 1.3.

   WHAT ARE FTP AND SFTP:

   FTP is the traditional file transfer protocol. It’s a basic way of using the Internet to share files. SFTP (or Secure File Transfer Protocol) is an alternative to FTP that also allows you to transfer files, but adds a layer of security to the process. SFTP uses SSH (or secure shell) encryption to protect data as it’s being transferred. This means data is not exposed to outside entities on the Internet when it is sent to another party.

   Businesses often choose SFTP solutions due to enhanced security. However, many others still rely on FTP to facilitate data transfers. To better understand which file sharing option can meet your company’s needs, let’s look at the differences between SFTP vs. FTP. Understanding how these file transfer options differ will help you choose which option is best to transfer your data. There are three key areas in which SFTP vs. FTP differ: encryption, firewalls, and potential vulnerabilities.

   ENCRYPTION:

   Transferring data is a vital, day-to-day task for many businesses. While some data transfers may not require protection, other files may house sensitive information – information that is too sensitive to fall into the wrong hands. This is why encrypting your data is essential. Encryption scrambles data, making it decipherable only by the sender and the recipient, ensuring that even if a file is intercepted, it won’t be intelligible to any unintended parties.

   So, how does encryption impact your choice between SFTP vs. FTP? The traditional file transfer protocol (FTP) is a simple way of transferring data, but it offers nothing in terms of data protection. Files are transferred without encryption, making data readable for anyone who intercepts it. While this is fine if you’re just sending unimportant files, this could lead to major data compromises if you’re sending crucial data.

   SFTP, in contrast, offers a secure shell protecting files. Because files are encrypted, you don’t have to worry about data falling into the wrong hands. This is the ideal mode of transfer for any file that you want to protect. SFTP uses an encrypted type of fingerprint technology to first verify host keys before any data transfer has taken place.

   In terms of compliance, encryption makes a huge difference. If your organization is subject to compliance standards (including, but not limited to, the ones listed below), you could face serious consequences if you fail to encrypt data:

   HIPAA
   ITAR
   PCI-DSS
   SOX
   GLBA

   Encryption isn’t just a feature offered by SFTP that’s nice to have. It’s an essential step you should take to protect your data. If you fail to comply with these standards, your business could be subject to some serious fines.

   FIREWALLS:

   Another way in which FTP and SFTP differ is how channels are used. When you send files via FTP, this protocol needs to open multiple channels in order to complete the transfer. While the client and software negotiate these channels automatically, the client-side firewalls need to open multiple ports. Opening multiple channels can also open the client’s firewalls to vulnerability.

   SFTP presents a more secure process for the client-side firewall. Only port 22 will need to be open to send and receive data. This simplifies firewall configurations and is a better choice in terms of file sharing security.

   VULNERABILITIES:

   In addition to encryption and firewalls, SFTP beats FTP in terms of potential vulnerabilities, too. Any vulnerability can potentially be exploited and turned into a data breach. When it comes to inherent vulnerabilities in the file transfer process, FTP has a number of prominent ones.

   The first vulnerability is that FTP is prone to human error. Sending a file to the wrong recipient or sending the wrong file altogether can lead to some serious problems for your company. With a greater level of security provided by SFTP, you can minimize the potential for human error. You can also take steps to promote a culture of security awareness within your business to reduce the potential for human error.

   Intercepting data is simple with FTP, too. All it takes is the right tools and a little bit of knowledge to take advantage of these vulnerabilities. Even the most amateur hackers can intercept an FTP transfer. Sensitive data is often worth too much to risk a breach.

   Again, host keys can present vulnerabilities. Unlike SFTP which uses host keys to verify a recipient's identity before a transfer takes place, FTP does not. This is yet another way FTP transfers are less secure. All it takes is one accidental transfer to a wrong recipient for a file to be compromised.

   When it comes to secure data transfers, SFTP is your best option. You can feel confident that encryption measures are up to compliance standards, and you’re avoiding the inherent vulnerabilities of FTP transfers.

   Since Plesk Obsidian 18.0.49 that was published December 20th, 2022, the Plesk PHP configuration page in "Tools & Settings" has a new option where you can easily install PHP PECL packages. The SSH2 extension is a PECL package as described in https://pecl.php.net/package/ssh2. It can be installed right out of the Plesk user surface using the new PECL installer.

8. Allow logins to WordPress while "maintenance" mode is engaged.

   Imagine being able to perform actual maintenance, when "maintenance mode" is engaged... Instead, actual maintenance can only be done with a 3rd party extension. Or, consider changing the labeling of "maintenance mode" to "WordPress On/Off" since engaging maintenance mode prevents actual maintenance, prevents logging in, and just shuts down the site.

9. Enable sending e-mails to same domain on external server even if Mail service is enabled for a domain

   As more and more customers move to G Suite and Office 365, there is a need to send authenticated emails from local SMTP to external server that handles same domain.

   Lets say example.com has a WordPress installation that sends notifications, order confirmations, form confirmations, ... to avoid spam and meet best practices, I will create local e-mail account mail@example.com.

   If domain has G Suite hosting info@example.com, emails from mail@example.com will not be delivered, because of Plesk's setup.

   As long as mail is enabled locally, one will get error: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table; even if info@example.com is perfectly deliverable on external service such as G Suite.

   Please fix this, there is a real need, it is a easy fix for Postfix.

   Since early 2023 a third option between "Enabled" and "Not configured" for the "Mail Settings" in a domain was added: "Disabled for incoming mail". This lets you send emails from your domain through sendmail with authentication and also lets you send mails through the PHP mail() function, but it does not deliver these mails locally. This solves the issue where mail domains are located elsewhere while a website generates emails from forms or other application scenarios.

   We'll be happy to read your comments if you have additional requirements.

10. Ability to add MX DNS record with a custom priority from Plesk GUI

    Currently, MX record the dropdown priority options are available at an interval of "5".

    However, Google Mail and G-Suite require to create MX-record with a priority 1, which is not available in Plesk.

    Please consider implementing Mod Security v3.x.x (aka libmodsecurity) for NGINX and Apache in the next Plesk update.

    At the moment any Plesk user if he wants to use Mod Security (official version supported by Plesk) is forced to use it as a web server:

    • Apache

    or

    • Apache + NGINX

    Any Plesk user who wants to use only NGINX as a web server and without using Apache at the moment cannot use Mod Security because Plesk does not currently support it for NGINX exclusively web servers.

    Here are some of the advantages of Mod Security v3.x.x (aka libmodsecurity and these advantages apply to any type of webserver, apache, NGINX, IIS, etc., etc.,) compared to the now old and obsolete Mod Security v2.x.x as reported on the official GitHub page relating to SpyderLabs - Mod Security available at this link https://github.com/SpiderLabs/ModSecurity for anyone who wants to deepen the subject.

    "Libmodsecurity is one component of the ModSecurity v3 project. The library codebase serves as an interface to ModSecurity Connectors taking in web traffic and applying traditional ModSecurity processing. In general, it provides the capability to load/interpret rules written in the ModSecurity SecRules format and apply them to HTTP content provided by your application via Connectors.

    Libmodsecurity is a complete rewrite of the ModSecurity platform. When it was first devised the ModSecurity project started as just an Apache module. Over time the project has been extended, due to popular demand, to support other platforms including (but not limited to) Nginx and IIS. In order to provide for the growing demand for additional platform support, it has became necessary to remove the Apache dependencies underlying this project, making it more platform independent.

    As a result of this goal we have rearchitected Libmodsecurity such that it is no longer dependent on the Apache web server (both at compilation and during runtime). One side effect of this is that across all platforms users can expect increased performance. Additionally, we have taken this opprotunity to lay the groundwork for some new features that users have been long seeking. For example we are looking to nativly support auditlogs in the JSON format, along with a host of other functionality in future versions.

    It is no longer just a module.
    The 'ModSecurity' branch no longer contains the traditional module logic (for Nginx, Apache, and IIS) that has traditionally been packaged all together. Instead, this branch only contains the library portion (libmodsecurity) for this project. This library is consumed by what we have termed 'Connectors' these connectors will interface with your webserver and provide the library with a common format that it undersands. Each of these connectors is maintained as a seperate GitHub project. For instance, the Nginx connector is supplied by the ModSecurity-nginx project (https://github.com/SpiderLabs/ModSecurity-nginx).

    Keeping these connectors seperated allows each project to be have different release cycles, issues and development trees. Addtionally, it means that when you install ModSecurity v3 you only get exactly what you need, no extras you won't be using."

    Docker containers' logs are not being rotated and in time occupies a lot of space.
    It would be nice if there was an option to specify flags like:

    Although the current behavior is the default for the Docker service itself, it can be changed in several ways,

    • For the service as a whole, "Configure the default logging driver"
    • With the new Docker extension version, it is possible to launch Portainer from the extension; with Portainer, it is possible to configure logging settings individually for containers.

14. Implement solution instead of myLittleAdmin for Plesk for Windows

    Vulnerability CVE-2020-13166 was discovered in myLittleAdmin and since the only option to completely mitigate the issue is to remove myLittleAdmin, it would be good to implement another tool to manage MS SQL databases through the web interface (instead of resorting to Microsoft SQL Management studio)

15. Add possibility for Detach button in WordPress Toolkit, that it can check and remove records for non-existed WP instance from the WordPress

    At the moment the situation is following:

    I scenario

    The WordPress instance is installed in the /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/old/ directory.
    If the mentioned directory was manually removed from the server-side and the Detach button was pressed after in Domains > example.com > WordPress, the leftovers of the non-existed WordPress instance still can be found in WordPress SQLite database /usr/local/psa/var/modules/wp-toolkit/wp-toolkit.sqlite3

    II scenario

    The WordPress instance is installed in the /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/old/ directory and files from this directory were manually moved to /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/.
    The Detach button was pressed after in Domains > example.com > WordPress, however the leftovers from the WordPress instance that currently is non-existed in /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/old/ directory still can be found in WordPress SQLite database /usr/local/psa/var/modules/wp-toolkit/wp-toolkit.sqlite3

    In both scenarios, it can cause error notifications that are sent to Administrator or Customers.

    Thus based on the points above after pressing the Detach button for the removed WordPress instance, it should check and remove leftovers from the WordPress SQLite database in case such an instance does not exist anymore

    while somewhat noob friendly the current docker plugin is just missing pretty much every feature to make it useful for anyone else than a hobbyist.

17. Hotlink protection Exception

    It would be good to have a way to add exceptions to the hotlink protection, so that some images can be available on thid-party resources.

    This is especially useful for adding logos to email's headers/signatures.

    WordPress Toolkit v5.7 adds the ability to choose which file extensions should be protected and which domains should be trusted. If these changes do not cover your use-case, please let us know.

18. Manage Wordpress updates, themes and pluging via CLI

    It is only possible to install a new WordPress instance with such options:

    For example:
    plesk ext wp-toolkit --install -domain-name <domain> -auto-updates true -plugins-auto-updates true -themes-auto-updates true

    The other way is to manage it via Plesk GUI for existing domains:

19. Be prepared for Debian Bullseye

    Debian Bullseye should be released in Summer 2021.

    For Buster, it took a whole year to have a compatible Plesk version. Please improve on that and aim to have a version ready when Buster arrives.
