Add Mailman 3
Hi,
plz add mailman 3 as mailinglist software.
We are happy to announce that mailman3 support is now available in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.59+ on Debian 11 and Debian 12.
Unfortunately, mailman3 packages can't be installed on Ubuntu22 and Ubuntu24 because of bugs (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mailman3/+bug/1999197, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mailman-suite/+bug/2062960). It blocks us from implementing supporting mailman3 on these OSes right now. When the bugs are fixed, we will return to implementing mailman3 support on these operating systems.
Also, to our regret, it is impossible to provide Mailman support on modern RHEL-based OSes because RedHat does not have plans to support Mailman in new OS releases (https://access.redhat.com/solutions/6766041). If you prefer RHEL-based OSes, as a workaround, you can use Plesk on AlmaLinux 8.x, where the mailman2 package is present; the vendor's termination date for AlmaLinux 8.x is 2029.
All other known limitations for Mailman support you can find in Plesk Documentation by the link https://docs.plesk.com/en-US/obsidian/administrator-guide/59438/. If you have any feedback on the implementation of this feature, please let us know on the forum: https://talk.plesk.com/threads/the-future-of-mailing-list-management.371226/.
Thank you!

Commenting "Admin" response of October 31, 2019:
I think probably all signatories of this request have a clear view about how Mailman is supported by Plesk (leveraging the version provided by the OS vendor), but I also think this is the very reason why this request have been brought forward in the first place, more than 3 years ago.
Of course I can speak only for myself, but I also think I'm not much off thinking that what we all would like to see is an OS independent implementation of Mailman 3, directly provided and supported by Plesk, together with all required components (Python, Django, Hiperkitty, Postorius).
I look forward for support of this clarification by all interested parties...

mailman 2.1 definately needs to be replaced or dumped. It's no longer a 'feature' to promomote in a hosting service its that dated and hard to use.

That would really be great. I have a huge problem with yahoos DMARC policy and only mailman version 2.1.12 which has no option to do handle this problem :)

This would really be lovely! Especially because -- as far as I can see -- the limitations regarding multiple domains have been removed in Mailman 3, as per:
http://docs.mailman3.org/en/new/prodsetup.html
"Mailman 3 supports multiple domains in a single installation."
and
https://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-developers/2009-October/020844.html

Mailman 3.1 introduced nice templates so e-mails look way more professional!

It's 2018 now. This suggestion is from 2016 and you still don't support Mailman 3 and stay on the old and outdated Mailman 2. Please add this feature.

Yes please add!

Support it! The limitations with mailinglist names is annoying. The same with lack of VirtualHost support in 2.1.
Would be neat in 17.9. Make it plausible that you increased the license prices! -

I dont know wy this is a fraud attempt to ask for mailman3 this is what he did, nothing more! I am maintainer of a mailman 2 instance and its difficult to implement and maintain the userlists and parse mailman databases. When i tried to set up dkim and dmarc i struggled with google hotmail etc. so i think this suggestion is quite good and dont needs any further explainaition by the person who initiated it. Just look at the number of votes and read the comments youll find good reasons . Thx in advance !

please add mailman 3. mailman 2 is outdated. there are many mailman 2 issues with dmarc dkim etc. modern spam prevention often blocks mailman 2 mails. i don't understand why nobody from odin has these problems. also the interface of mailman 2 is very outdated. time to update

Please add Mailman 3 as an installation option. We have been waiting for this for a very long time. Mailman 2.1 is old software and doesn't have the dkim options to keep the lists from being blocked. Migrating Mailman 2.1 lists to Mailman 3 won't be too overly difficult if we give our customers a choice. The main issues of migration would be the archives but since MM 2.1 stores them as HTML that is fine for our customers to just shift over to Mailman 3. Many have been requesting this upgrade for many years now. Please, let's get this done.

upgrade mailman from version 2.1.16 to version 3.1.1 and we all will be lucky.

Considering you(Onyx) is seeing plesk as an all in one solution to host and manage websites and webspace/domains/email by sellers/resellers/customers as well as the hole basesystem(updateprocess), it would be fortune to implement the state of the art softwarebranch of a already implemented software, which is updated to fullfill the needs of a changed email verification standard(dkim and more), as well as the updated webinterface. But the most important point i have to mention is the data storage, maillist management changed to mysql, which we have already on our plesk servers and gives us improved possibilities to implement mailman in our products.
thx in advance -

Hello Plesk Staff,
You find more Informations here :
http://mailman.readthedocs.io/en/latest/src/mailman/docs/install.html
If we can use mailman 3 in plesk the maillinglist are more comfortable.
Mailman 3 is the new update for the mailinglist based on phyton.
It based on different components:
https://wiki.list.org/Mailman3
Mailman 3 is architected and released quite differently than Mailman 2.1

Hello Plesk Staff,
in my opinion there is nothing to add to that explanation. The biggest thing is to integrate up-to-date software and not to use the old stuff (mailman2).

Hello Plesk Staff,
I'm not the author, but also support this idea.
But here is a explanation. Maybe you could use this one.Currently there is Mailman 2 integrated as Mailinglistsoftware in Plesk. This comes with an outdated user and management interface.
The Mailman developers have intropduced several packages for a new modern mailman software. This splitted up in several parts:
- the core, which manages the mailing lists and receives and sends mails
- a REST API which can communicate with the core
- a modern user interface with uses the REST API
- an archive software, which also uses the REST APIThe basic idea is now to make the whole Mailman 3 suite available in Plesk. The management of the list can be done with the user interface of mailman.
Additional you can use the REST API to integrate the management directly into plesk, so that there there is no need to use the mailman user interface.
A major problem will be the migration from old mailman2 lists and archives to the new mailman 3 system. There should be migration paths, but they aren't documented well.
Therefore a first step could be to integrate mailman 3 as a choice at installation.
And a second part would be to integrate migration paths.I hope I could help to clarify this ide.
Thanks for consideration to implement this.
