Limit outgoing mail messages
http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=265576
Please add new feature to limit the number of outgoing emails Yes this is a very bad that we cannot limit outgoing emails!
One of our hosting customers was a spammer. Because of their spamming our IP was blacklisted.
We removed the blacklist and suspended the spammer, but during that time our other customers were very upset, their emails weren't being received...and new customers of ours couldn't receive download letters sent from us, it was a terrible problem! Then they would complain but support tickets weren't received, either!
Parallels, please add a feature (like cPanel) where we can limit the number of emails any user can send in a day/hour/etc so we wont have this same problem again.
Since this function is available for preview in Plesk 12.0 for 3 months already and very soon will become publicly available, we are marking this request as closed.
If you have already tried the function, please tell us your opinion https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bpPa-PNixKKc9spNJmJ82kLTwySlmQPYYHedIHebUSk/viewform?usp=send_form

Any updates on this? This is by far and away the most important missing feature in plesk.

I'd like a global setting that limits the number of emails per domain. None of my legitimate clients needs to send out over 100 emails per hour, for example.
I've had so many issues with spammers compromising an email address and sending out 10's of thousands of emails and blacklisting my server.

Because of this issue and not being able to find the user(s) that were the spamming problem....and the continual blacklisting of my server this caused, several of my clients have moved their mail service elsewhere...Microsoft 360 or purchased a separate mail account directly with Godaddy. I need the ability to track and limit these spam accounts!!!

I thinks that the best is add the posibility per domain or per account and the time limit.

i think that a grafic stats will be very useful, we will see wich account is sending to much emails
restrict email to send will be necessary create error validations like:
"Your reach the limit of emails per day available"this such thing will need customizations in Postfix and a lot of work, i think that this can create a lot of conflicts in future, for example, during postfix upgrade etc...
a simple stats per domain/subscription will be enough
this is my opinion

One way I have done this on an older Plesk server was to have SMTP IP, Session ID, to and from email address and domain logged to MySQL. Data older than 24 hours is purged. Each SMTP connection is compared to the total from that IP in the last 24 hours. You can enter IP address exceptions and give them a time to expire. If IP address is over the limit they would receive and RBL message and not be allowed to send.

As a temporary measure against spammers: In /etc/postfix/main.cf add:
default_destination_rate_delay = 60sThis limits mail to the same domain to 1 message/minute. This wont stop the spamming itself, but will prevent your server sending massive amounts of spam to 1 domain (often Yahoo or Hotmail accounts).

This solution should be implemented for years, hackers are increasing spam attacks and plesk panel currently is the only important it is vulnerable. I have servers with hundreds of domains in plesk and all I have problems. I earnestly beg you implement it once and for all. The payment solution(parallels output antispam) is worthless as you want to skip it.

Programista makes a very good point aswell.
Stopping spam is the most important part.Whichever option is most effective.
As long as we have the needed data, we can suspend the domain in question.

Will be great per USER limi

... and as Sean said, per mailbox. Good idea also, but can't be the only one.
I know that making each of those restriction functionalities requires some work. So if you don't have resources and have to decide - please, keep in mind the most important thing. Which is:
EFFECTIVENESS.It must affect every possible way of sending e-mail - like php mail() function (sendmail, I believe?). This is the most frequent source of spam. This is why "per domain" can't be the only way of control. So, the subscription limit would be the simplest solution. But, as I said before I suggest to make possibility to set both limits at the same time.

Answer for your survey: BOTH.
I'd suggest making limit settings for both domain and subscription. Or even for customer, also.
This way user can decide which setting is best for his service, or his certain customer.

Will be great per USER limit. The Premium Outbound Antispam has a feature like this, am I right?

I suggest limiting email by the IP address. I have a custom script that currently does this. When a PC or network is compromised email will will show several different TO and FROM addresses. But all the spam email sent by a virus infected PC will originate from that same IP address.

Hi Sergey,
I'd like a third option - A limit per mailbox. We currently use Policyd in postfix on Linux to achieve this...
