Customer email notification when mailbox quota exceeded
It would be a very useful feature to have an email automatically injected to a customers mailbox when their quota is close to the limit and another when the mailbox quota has been exceeded with advice (customisable) on how to resolve the problem.
Sometimes clients are unaware/forget their quota and if accessing via outlook/smartphone etc they are not aware of the limit being reached. This can result in several days without emails or emails being rejected with a "mailbox full" autoresponder. Ironically this means anyone sending emails to the client are aware the mailbox is full but the client is unaware of the problem.
Good news everyone!
This functionality was added in Plesk for Linux Obsidian RTM release. We suggest you upgrade to the latest version and check it out.

This post turned 6 years old this week. Are people really waited on this feature? Move your customers to Office 365 or a CPanel solution.

this is exatly the reason why a notification like this to server administrators is highly recommended, especially when you manage big number of mailboxes

+1 add this as well as autodiscover and horde (or any other groupware feature) Ever seen how cpanel does it? How much longer can we wait for such simple but NEEDED and overdue features?

Their older product Confixx did this very well, odd, that it takes so long for such a feature to make it into the product.

You can alert them when the storage is near the limit, before it is exceeded. Dovecot has a function "quota_warning" that does it very well.

And how do you want to email them if their mailbox size is exceeded?
You want exceptions? Exceptions can be exploited, it'll result in a full hard disk and far more issues than a full mailbox.
It's better to inform your customer in a descent way instead of just shoving accounts for the lowest price and no attention to mailbox ethics. -

I suggest everyone using plesk twitter & fb to get their attention on this missing capability. Maybe they wake up... :-s

You can easily do that through the Dovecot quota_warning plugin.
You can set a threshold based on customers' mailbox percentage of used space that triggers the execution of a script with which send a warning email to the mailbox owner (or to whoever you want). -

this feature would save some 'egg on face' especially imap users, they chomp up server space. I lost a client over this but he was a complete numpty
