Realistically we don’t expect it open source or free ever. However you can find limited versions relatively cheap or even at no additional cost (included in server price)

There are several known open source or free control panels. But many would develop slow and many stop before reaching maturity. The websitepanel was formerly known as dotnetpanel and was pushed in open source after its original team has been moved to other projects. Surely, for users it was better option than closing the project, but not much progress has been seen since then.
At this point you can search for low-cost or even no-cost Plesk (bundled into server price). Free trial is available for evaluation purposes. But free and open source are not going to happen.
Hope you can find affordable pricing for your needs.

Never say never!.
Also it was unthinkable that Microsoft take out a free Office and already there!. The Starter. With advertising, yes, but free. Also an online version, free of course.
Also, years ago, it was unthinkable a free antivirus and today there are hundreds ...
When the idea websitepanel.net matures, perhaps other manufacturers control panels will replanteis history. What would you do without the cooperation of other manufacturers without their versions OpenSource (PHP, MySQL, MailEnable, etc.). No renegeis something (OpenSource software), that you yourselves distribuis in installing Plesk, and therefore you avail of it.
