resume ftp backup upload on fail
when plesk got error to upload backup to ftp, add an option to retry uploading to ftp
33 votesAs correctly mentioned in the comments, this feature has long been available. On some FTP configurations (target FTP repository) it can also help to avoid timeouts by splitting the backup into separate volumes using the "Multivolume" option in the Plesk Backup Manager.

Allow weekly and monthly backups with Dropbox Backup Extension
Can you please make an option in the Dropbox scheduled backup for weekly and monthly...?
We want to turn off daily but keep weekly or monthly.
This is also useful for bandwidth when you are being charged everyday to output xxGB out of the sever to Dropbox. (weekly may be ok since this Dropbox is not the primary backup solution but a secondary one for us and we don't need it to upload the xxGB backup daily...)
Thank you
11 votesVerified that with the Drop Box extension it is possible to create the same daily, weekly or monthly backups that are also available with other backup methods. Should this request have meant to disable daily backups (hide that option), please formulate that as a new feature request, because that would be a different story.

FTP Backup directly to storage
Actual backups are safed local and then thei are commited to the FTP Backup Storage.
This means every Backup uses the Space also local (temporary). This can be a Problem with limited VMs etc.It would be good if backups can be done directly to FTP Storage (optional setting).
11 votesIn common it is not possible due to several of technical restrictions, especially on Windows. But in version Plesk 17.0 Onyx we will use new backup process schema. Content will be backuped one-by-one by services of domain hosting. For instance, first part of backup – web content – will be compressed locally and sent to ftp server. After that this dump will be removed and mail content will be compressed to local dump and sent to ftp, then mail dump deleted and databases dump created, sent, deleted, etc. This schema will dramatically decrease disk space usage during backup procedure.

add bzip2/xz compression support for backups
Would be nice to have the option to choose other compression formats for backups, especially bzip2 or xz. To reduce compression time, parallel implementations can be used (pbzip2 and pxz). Additionally there should be an option to set compression level (1-9).
7 votesStarting from Plesk Obsidian 18.0.40, GZIP compression used in the Plesk backups has been replaced with ZSTD compression to improve performance for backup and restore operations. This allows more control over compression level, too.

Restore a single domain or mail account (transfer domain)
Restore a single domain or mail account to the same or a other subscription (transfer domain)
7 votesWe believe that meanwhile this feature became available. For one it is possible to "move" domains between subscriptions, and it is also possible to restore domain or mailbox content from a backup to another subscription once a domain has been moved. For these reasons we are changing the status of this request to "already available". If this should not fit your needs, please open a new request and describe in detail what you would like to see in Plesk.

Comments for FTP backups
May it could be great for a next release of Plesk, that comments could be display in the backups list from the start! Correctly comments for backups on the remote FTP server can not be viewed.
3 votesVerified that in Plesk Obsidian the Backup Manager lists all show the comments that were stored in the backup set.

Serverbackups not include to Customer Quota
There is an issue in the quota calculation in the following point:
If i create a customer Hosting Plan with 5GB Quota.
The Customer have 2GB Data in his Hosting, and I create a Serverbackup via the Plesk Backupmanager as root.No the Customer Quota are increased to 4GB.
If the Customer creates self backups - it is okay to include them in the Quota Calculation.
But i don't think that the root-Serverbackup should be calculated in okay thanks for help
3 votesThe feature is available in Plesk 12.0. You can find the settings if you open “Tools & Settings” > “General Settings” > “Server Settings”.

Backup restoration - all databases of a subscription affected
Hello,
Would be a good UX/UI improvement to get informed that ALL databases of all domains under the subscription would be restored in case the subscription restored from the backup. (all configuration and content)
2 votesFrom the comments we understand that it is desired to restore only specific database(s) when doing a restore. That option is already available. Instead of restoring "all content" you can select "databases" and then pick the databases that you want to restore. As a database is not physically linked to one website project, it is technically not possible to auto-select the right database that a website project uses to auto-restore along with a website restore.

Adding functionality to restore a non-existing domain or subscription from a server-wide Plesk backup
I suggest adding functionality to restore a domain or subscription from a server-wide backup on the Plesk server, where this domain or subscription is missing (for example, it was deleted before). This is very inconvenient when you have to create a nonexistent subscription, then restore it, and then separately restore the domain in it.
2 votesIt is not only possible to restore non-existent customers, subscriptions and websites, but also more granular objects such as mail acounts, databases etc. (please see the attached screenshot). When restoring a subscription, it is not necessary that the subscription already exists. If the whole customer account does not exist, you can also restore the full account from a backup. There is no need to create that account before a restore is done.

Add ability to check backup duration and when the task has been completed
Backup task may increase server load. In order to balance it, it is required understand how long task has been running.
Currently it is possible to check only from log files, which is not very convenient. Please, add ability to simply check this info in Plesk UI.2 votesWith the very comfortable and easy-to-use Plesk Backup Telemetry extension that is available for free you can dive into the backup process tree and see exactly where the hold-ups are.

Add the possibility to exclude one or any domains from server backup.
Hi,
Plesk 12.5 user
The backup manager in Tools $ Ressources do the job.
It backup all my domains and databases. OK
But, i have 2 domains (with 10 go of data) that I dont' want to include in this backup.
I would prefer to create a dedicated backup task for these domains (only one backup per month for example)
So, it woud be great to exclude some domains from the backup managerThanks !
2 votesJust use exclude-domain option for pleskbackup utility – http://docs.plesk.com/en-US/12.5/advanced-administration-guide-linux/backing-up-restoring-and-migrating-data/backing-up-data/specifying-data-for-backing-up.68839/

backup compatibility with new server
In my past experience, when I tried loading a passworded domain backup (created via Plesk) to a new Plesk server, the backup wasn't accepted, with a msg stating that only backups created on same Plesk server can be restored.
Maybe I wasn't doing something right, and it is actually possible to restore a plesk created domain backup to a new server, however, it created a considerable mess and seemed a very unnecessary situation.
If it isn't possible to presently restore backups on a new Plesk server, please can you add this to the to-do list, as this really is essential…
2 votesDue security reason only Plesk administrator can restore backups from another Plesk server.

suspended subscriptions too stupid
We use Plesk hosting with 3GB of storage, but our website only uses 45% of it. I created a backup, which stored in our capacity, and the backup fills the disk full capacity, causing our subscription to be suspended.
I can't do anything in this situation, which leads to losing customers and harming our reputation.
Why does the backup consume hosting storage? Why do you suspend immediately instead of giving a warning and allowing three days to address the issue before suspending?
1 voteThank you for you suggestion. Plesk already has an option to exclude backups (made via the Backup Manager) from diskspace calculation. This can be configured via Tools & Settings > Server Settings by unchecking "domain backup files" and "backup files created by the administrator".
Feel free to comment if I misunderstood your issue and your feature suggestion was meant differently.

Exclude yarn .cache folder from backup by default on scheduled backups
The .cache folder takes up a lot of (unnecessary) backup space.
1 voteIt is possible to "exclude specific files from backup" using this option in the scheduled and manual backup configuration. If you are experiencing issues with this option, please open a support ticket with Plesk support so that staff can assist you in solving the task.

Change the backup structure so all files and directories regarding one backup are located in one archive
It'd be easier for to have a directory created for each backup instead of having all the files in, for example, /var/lib/psa/dumps/.
For example, I'd like to have a structure like this:
backup_2011300010.tgz that contains all the files and directories for this backup.1 voteRemote backups are already single-file archives. The same can be achieved by a workaround locally. In "Tools & Settings" > "Backup Manager" > "Backup Settings" check the box "Allow setting up FTP backup storage on the local server". Then configure any local FTP storage space of your choice, e.g. create a subscription just for the purpose of storing backups in it or use an existing subscription and create directory for the backups in it. Now configure your backups as "remote" backups but store them to the FTP address. This will create files that have all backup components in one single file, yet they are not stored on a different machine, but locally, and accessible much faster than if stored remotely.
