2 and a half year later and nothing happened... i really think we will never get these feature... thats sad
Yes, it should be dead simple and it's basic functionality that everybody needs!

it's very useful

Yes I need it too..
Let's go !
If I'm not wrong, you can do this as follow:
- don't use the "forwarding", but just keep the "type hosting" on "website".
- Add this line to the nginx settings: rewrite ^/$ https://www.yourdomain.com permanent;
- Now you can add a let's encrypt certificate to the domain

This function should absolutely be implemented

This is a MUST !
Definitely should be implemented
YES!! Browser will automatically try to load the ssl version of redirected sites what results in certificate errors
I don't think you should implement this based on popularity. It. Should. Just. Be. Implemented.

Is this still not working?

I just found this thread and I am so surprised that this is not supported. We have geo dns and we setup also subdomains pointing practically the same wordpress installation and we are getting the SSL error because of https:// frame not supported. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS.
It is not like we need SSL for everything nowadays.

We need SSL for redirects (301,302,frame...)...nowadays, almost all browsers demand HTTPS.
Please add this feature for all type of forwards, if I make a Let's Encrypt enabled domain with normal hosting then I can do the same by using Apache/Nginx directives.
Using directives is more of hassle and it's hard to tell which domains are forwarded and which aren't, the whole purpose of having a control panel in the first place... make life easier.
Should urgently be implemented please.
How is this not already fixed?!
