Hi everyone,

Great news for all Ruby fans: Ruby Manager extension is now available in the latest Plesk Onyx 17.0.14 preview — https://ext.plesk.com/packages/09b5b77e-91e1-42cc-9eb4-fc70da1715d4-ruby.

With this extension you can:

Enable Ruby support on any given virtual host
Choose which Ruby version should be used on a domain. Both UI and CLI calls use rbenv utility to achieve maximum conformity
Install gem file dependencies via UI using Bundler tool
Specify custom environment variables
Edit configuration files

The extension supports Ruby on Rails and Sinatra apps.

Note: it is strongly suggested to install the “Tools required for building Ruby gems” component in order to facilitate quick and painless Ruby gem installation. With this component you can forget about gem dependency hell and enjoy painless gem file installation since most dependencies will be resolved for you automatically by our tools.

How to try Ruby Manager feature:

1. Install the extension: Extensions > Extensions Catalog > Ruby Manager > Install
2. Go to any website and click Ruby button.

Yes man! I really wish for it! Working out of the box and a sweet App with a sweet editor and a terminal! That would be all I need to be really happy with Plesk!

As it looks, Ruby on Rail is not working with Plesk 11.

I discovered the same problem after the upgrades of Plesk 10 to Plesk 11 and CentOS 5 to version 6 and if I had known before switching that it was not supported than I would not have upgraded

Yes, integration with Phusion Passenger would be great. Plesk 11 does not need as many hacks as earlier versions to make it work, but out-of-the box support would be nice.

good point. When I moved up to Plesk 11 I also moved up to CentOS 6
If I had only known I would be getting into Ruby on Rails before that

From what I've learned, this is currently only possible on CentOS 5.
Would be nice to have it on CentOS 6 aswell.
