Custom labels in WP Toolkit
This idea was already mentioned on: https://plesk.uservoice.com/forums/184549-feature-suggestions/suggestions/39722035-custom-labels-in-wp-toolkit-and-additional-filteri
And to give some ideas of what custom labels could be added:
- managed / unmanaged
- notes about who manages the site
- notes about special environments besides production / staging / ...
It would be less work to not have to look up these informations for each site and be able to just add a short custom label. For us these labels do not need to be filtered, but it would be a nice-to-have to have this addition like described in the original thread.
Custom labels are now available in WPT v6.0. Details:
- All labels now require users to input a label text.
- Labels can have different colors (chosen from a predefined palette)
- Labels can be private (visible only to the person who adds the label) or non-private (visible to and manageable by everyone who can access the site in WPT)
- Several private labels (up to five) can be added to a single WP site at once
- Only one non-private label per site can be added
- Existing labels were converted to non-private labels with the same text (their color is a bit different, though)
Let us know if you have any additional feedback.

Can we please have the option to add custom notes (e.g. 200 words) for websites?
Also, can we please have the option to create tags for sites which we could then filter?

The old predefined labels we were able to filter on them. The new custom labels - while we appreciate being able to add new ones - have taken away some important functionality:
- filtering and sorting. What's the point of taking the time to label "Production" and "Staging" sites if I can't generate a list of just the production sites?
- being able to select from a list for consistency. Previously you could select from the predefined list which eliminated the possibility for typos. If we have to pick a color and type in "Production" every time we are sure to end up with a few small inconsistencies. That will hamper the ability to use these effectively for filtering.

Today I could test the new function for the first time :-)
But what I miss now is the possibility to filter or sort by these labels. For this, the labels would probably have to be stored in a database. This would be useful anyway, so that you can easily assign the same label to multiple websites. -

These are great news, thank you! I will be happy to test it as soon as our hoster puts the update in.

Why not put an "override" flag, to cover edge cases in which an admin must communicate with the customer?
The "override" is an additional status that temporarily overwrite the private label. So, the labels are generally private (admin and customer can have different values) but admin, due the power of root, can override a label if needed.

If you have the opportunity to do so - why not implement the option to create private as well as public labels?
Provided only one or the other is possible, then I would prefer the second option (private labels). -

EDIT: I've expanded my reaction a bit to better clarify my view.
First off, thank you for adding customs labels to the WTP! I also appreciate that you've asked users for feedback on this feature.
As a developer who creates WP sites for customers I actually would prefer the first scenario; to have the labels public. To me this would be the most useful as I can add labels to sites that are helpful for myself, but also helpful for customers. It also helps in collaboration with customers. For example it would allow me to refer to labels in my communication with customers. E.g look at site XYZ with the label "testing". Another example would be that customers can add labels to specific sites as a way to mark them for me to look at (if they have issues with some sites or some sites need new features implemented).
To remind administrators that labels are public (and thus visible to customers as well) it might be useful to add a little helper text below the input field in which labels are created that says something like "Labels are public and visible to all users". That would make me think twice about adding a label like "pain **********".
If I may make an additional suggestion, I can see it being useful if labels added by administrators (or resellers) could not be removed by customers. (Or perhaps individual labels could be "locked", meaning they can only be removed/edited by the user who added the label).

I would also suggest implementing the custom labels as private.

Very much prefer the second option where labels become private.

Hey!
I mean custom labels for the WP Toolkit mainpage where the list with all wordpress sites shows up

I would suggest some custom labels like:
- Old or Deprecated
- New or Fresh (the filter returns all new sites withing a fixed date like 1 month or so)
- To be removed
- To be updated
- To be redesignedAlso:
Other label colors would also be nice like orange, red , green yellow , and grey
also commented here about filtering:

I want to see the option to put colours to the Labels in the WP Toolkit, as it makes identifying the WordPress instance better.
Having all the labels in the Blue tag, sometimes is confusing.
By setting colours to the labels, it can be easily identified. -

I agree with this suggestion. And let me add: It would be great to be able to assign multiple labels per instance. Combined with the ability of filtering by these labels - which you already have implemented - would result in a flexible system for grouping and categorizing WordPress instances in WP Toolkit.

For instance, one could create labels to make it easily visible which sites require updates or are updated by the client themself.

Definitely nice to have. For example:
- Label for particular theme which needs extra measures on update
- Label for different environments/installs, e.g. "Plain WP", "Bedrock", "Version control"Filtering for custom labels would be good so you wouldn't need to scroll and page through trying to find just the correct label.

Custom labels and colors with filtering would be very nice to have. This might also be nice-to-have in the Plesk Domains/Subscriptions list.
