that you adapt the main domain name of an IP as the myhostname for POSTFIX or QMAIL.
Most of RBLS are checking the SMTP Banner and currently only the first domain name is being used. To reduce scamming or to prevent being blacklisted you should apply myhostname with the according domain name.
Thank you for your input! We will consider this functionality in upcoming releases if it will be popular.
Everyone, please continue voting for this feature if you consider it important.

You should see this when running Plesk 12 on Linux with Postfix.
But be aware: Blacklists such as cbl.abuseat.org will list your IP-addresses if they send mail using multiple EHLO/HELO hostnames.
I can't stress this enough: You are misunderstanding the RBLs. You _dont_ want multiple HELO hostnames from 1 IP.

This should be fixed or, at least, a workaround should be given
@Tozz: In my plesk installation i don't have this Tools & Settings -> Mail Server Settings -> Outgoing mail mode and i'm unable to apply this "You can choose to use the server name as HELO hostname or the domain's hostname." Can you give me more information, please? Thx

@mstefanem: Your rant is untrue. Although I agree that it wasn't properly documented that Plesk has changed the default setting with an update, you can change it quite easily:
Tools & Settings -> Mail Server Settings -> Outgoing mail mode
Outgoing mail mode is set to "Send from domain IP addresses and use domain names in SMTP greeting" probably. Change it to "Send from domain IP addresses"

How can I choose the domain's hostname then

Tozz commented
This is already implemented in the latest version. You can choose to use the server name as HELO hostname or the domain's hostname.

after update 11.5 to Plesk 12... i have now 4 IPs in SPANLIST for rDNS FQDN error with plesk because it use server hostname for "smtp greetings" problem... and memberUI use a wrong IP if i do the second choice (multi-IP with site name for greeting)...
It's impossible to solve it without manually hack master.cf
please do a memberUI for have a correct choice and a working solution...

As per my information,
1. SMTP banner (receiving SMTP server' welcome message) is rarely used in order to detect/reduce scamming. It only makes sense for dedicated mail serves (so one IP - one domain)
http://mxtoolbox.com/problem/smtp/smtp-reverse-banner-check2. Instead, SMTP greeting (HELO message from transmitting SMTP client) is usually used in order to verify SMTP client
I've heard that Parallels is going to have in Plesk 12 the case 2 from above

I am in the hosting business for quite some time now, but I have never heard that anti-spam solutions check the SMTP banner for proper hostname. I know the EHLO/HELO header is checked, but not the SMTP greeting banner.
This would be a stupid check, because multi-domain hosting is very common. It is impossible to adapt the SMTP greeting to all domainnames on a specific server.

This has caused me many problems also!

This is the Solution for :
WARNING: The hostname in the SMTP greeting does not match the reverse DNS (PTR) record for your mail server. This probably won't cause any harm, but may be a technical violation of RFC5321 -

Fellas of Parallels,
you can test and see the issue about "banner" using the dnsstuff tool

This is very useful,
when we set a fix IP for a domain, we can set this same IP on MX records.
(we use postfix). the issue is, banner still getting information from main server IP, that cause all problems.
i hire an expert to solution this, and after a lot of work, he conclude that will not be possible because, some parts of postfix was changed by Plesk, and even he hack the code Plesk can overwrite his job and bring the issue again...this is a detail, but very important regarding a good email server configuration

I'm pulling votes from other suggestions just so I can give this the maximum votes. This has become a critical issue for us.
The SMTP banner uses the server hostname. This is causing some of our email to be blocked. Plus, we are unable to get whitelist certified because of this. When an IP has a default domain, that domain should be used in the SMTP banner in place of the hostname.
I've tried editing the Postfix config myself, but it doesn't seem to be working. There must be something else in place that is overriding my settings.
