Move domains between subscriptions
This is a feature that needs to be brought to the Plesk Control Panel.
This request has been outstanding since Plesk 10:
http://kb.parallels.com/en/113938
This wasn't possible in Plesk 11.5.
http://kb.parallels.com/en/121606
It still does not appear possible in Plesk 12.
At the very least, breaking a domain out into its own subscription would be a good first step.
Search words:
I cannot move domain to another subscription
move webspaces
move a domain within a multi-domain subscription
multi-domain subscription
migration manager
transfer a domain
separate subscription
split subscription
break out domain from subscription
It’s done!
We’re happy to announce that Plesk Obsidian RTM with this feature is now available! Refer to Release Notes for the instructions: https://docs.plesk.com/en-US/obsidian/administrator-guide/website-management/websites-and-domains/domains-and-dns/adding-and-removing-domains.65150/#moving-domains.
We would appreciate hearing your feedback on the implementation of this functionality. If you’ve already tried the feature, please, participate in a short survey, it will only takes 3-5 minutes: https://pt-research.typeform.com/to/fz3KnI
We’d like to thank everyone who commented on this request and provided invaluable feedback. Thanks!

What about Plesk Onyx ?

@Admin
Are you planning to allow for the feature to move all the mailboxes, their passwords from the addon subdomain to the main domain in the new subscription automatically ? In my mind it is a must, especially when operational domains are moved to a new subscription. -

@Niels Eulink,if I use the CLI command you suggested, does it move all the mailboxes automatically?

@admin
is there a timeframe for the release of this feature ? -

@AlH through the CLI yes and soo many steps which makes it not very friendly to do. GUI there is not.

Set example.de to not redirect to example.com, and a .htaccess file should still work. Something like:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.example.com$
RewriteRule (.*)$ http://www.example.de/$1 [R=301,L]
</IfModule> -

On first Plesk-Setup, I have create an subscription with Name "example.com" and Webspace for this Domain.
Later I insert new Domains and I change my business focus from "example.com" to "example.de".
So I want, that Domain "example.com" is an Alias-Domain to "example.de".
But "example.com" is defined as "Webspace" and it is not possible to change it.
It is not possible to delete this domain and create it new as alias-Domain because this domain is the master-Domain of the subscription (I have done it by mistake and have delete my whole Subscription).So there is no way to redirect my domain "example.com" with 301 to "example.de".

@Jmorthland: According to Niels Eulink, it already is, at least for CLI

Hi, I have a main domain and I want to move it to another subscription as an addon domain. How should I do it?

Is this true for Windows servers as well?

I just tried it.
Surprisingly it worked like a charm on my 17.8.11 under Centos.
However it looks as if the target subscription has to exist already.
I was unable to move an existing domain and make it the default domain of a subscription.
Is there an workaround to change the default domain of a subscription? -

Would be far preferable to do this via the Plesk web interface as well. Having Resellers or clients do this via CLI is not something I'd feel happy with.

12 March 2019 - Plesk Onyx 17.9 Preview 12
Plesk Administrators can now move add-on domains between subscriptions via the CLI by running the following command: plesk bin site --move addon_domain.com -webspace-name target_subscription.com

Glad to hear you are now implementing this feature. Is there already an estimate when it can get released?
I am also not sure, whether the current manual and cumbersome approach via a fake domain works, if there are no domains left on the current license...

Glad to hear something is happening.
One scenario not covered by the survey...
Subscription contains 2 domains, one of which is the subscription domain and cannot be removed.
Would like to exchange those two domains so the other one becomes the subscription domain. Then the list of subscriptions will better reflect the business structure (which changed since subscriptions / domains originally created).

I am quite disappointed, if not offended, would be the proper word, that form the date of status changed into «Planned», respectively "Oct 31, 2016", almost 2 year passed and nothing has been done, except of survey!! I really hope that we should not wait other years when the status would be «Started».
