  1. PHP Extensions Installer

I would love to see PHP Extensions Installer like other panels cPanel and DirectAdmin have it. Can we see a feature where we install needed PHP Extensions from Plesk rather than SSH into server and install?

  2. Mod Security v3.x.x (aka libmodsecurity) for NGINX and Apache

    Hi,

Please consider implementing Mod Security v3.x.x (aka libmodsecurity) for NGINX and Apache in the next Plesk update.

At the moment any Plesk user if he wants to use Mod Security (official version supported by Plesk) is forced to use it as a web server:

    • Apache

    or

    • Apache + NGINX

Any Plesk user who wants to use only NGINX as a web server and without using Apache at the moment cannot use Mod Security because Plesk does not currently support it for NGINX exclusively web servers.

Here are some of the advantages of Mod Security v3.x.x (aka libmodsecurity and these…

Hi, I'm glad to inform you that the request is completed and ability to exclude databases from the backup is available since Plesk Obsidian 18.0.54

We added a separate checkbox "databases" to the list of content to backup, so no you can exclude databases or enable databases only.

  5. better backup priority settings to include nice and ionice

Currently it seems the backup priority only takes CPU into account and not I/O

I would prefer the backup low priority settings to be changed into specific values. For example

CPU PRIORITY -> Select Box with options 1-19
IO Class -> Select Box with options 1-3
IO Priority-> Select Box with options 1-7

1 means realtime and the higher the number the less important is the task.

Then this can be converted into custom commands depending on the user needs like:

    nice -n{CPU PRIORITY} ionice -c{I/O CLASS} -n{I/O Priority} <backup task command>

For example one could set like this

    nice…

  6. Let's Encrypt SSL certificate for Plesks admin url

It would be great if we could ad a Let's Encrypt SSL to the admin url.

Is there an easy way to do this or will there be support in Plesk to do this?

  7. distupgrade for Debian and Ubuntu (i.e. Debian Squeeze to Debian Wheezy)

This used to work with previous Debian versions (e.g. Etch -> Lenny, Lenny -> Squeeze) but it doesn´t seem to be possible with Squeeze -> Wheezy.

The proposed way of "updating" is to make a backup and restore it on a new server. As we have 50+ servers this simply isn´t feasible: We cannnot get a new server and transfer multiple customer domains (some using external DNS) for each of those servers. This would cause long downtimes and problems with data being transferred that is changed on the old server (from website users).

It has been possible before so it…

  10. Be able to enable all security options from WordPress Toolkit on all instances via CLI

Be able to enable all security options recommended by the WordPress Toolkit on all instances via CLI so that it would save customers' time as they would not need to login to the Panel and select all of them manually on all instances.

  11. Enable Mail DKIM signing by default

I suggest to add an option to Plesk Service Plans to enable DKIM signing when creating a new hosting package.

Right now we have to manually enable DKIM signing for every new hosting account after creation.

This should be inside a Service Plan under tab: Mail

  13. Add support of google authenticator to improve security of login process

"The Google Authenticator project includes implementations of one-time passcode generators for several mobile platforms, as well as a pluggable authentication module (PAM). One-time passcodes are generated using open standards developed by the Initiative for Open Authentication (OATH) (which is unrelated to OAuth).

These implementations support the HMAC-Based One-time Password (HOTP) algorithm specified in RFC 4226 and the Time-based One-time Password (TOTP) algorithm specified in RFC 6238."

  14. Add the ability to require 2FA for accounts.

Many sites and online providers today require the use of 2FA to secure accounts. It would be great if Plesk could require the same thing (at least for administrative accounts). I think this could really help increase the security posture of the software.

As it stands now, Google Auth is optional, and a user has the ability to enable/disable it at will, which isn't ideal.

According to this thread, there are currently areas where 2FA wouldn't currently be possible, but all of these issues have already been solved by other companies. I have no doubt that Plesk could do it…

We are glad to announce the new Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) extension (https://www.plesk.com/extensions/mfa/), coming to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.61 and later. The new extension is meant to offer seamless 2FA authentication to all Plesk users, and comes with one of the following benefits:

  15. SSL it! support latest server-side-tl version 5

I would be nice that the latetst version of mozilla will be supported in the SSL it! extension. It would be even better that we can select for previous configuration (version 4) or recommended configuration (version 5)

  16. Update of paid WordPress plugins via WordPress Toolkit

As you know, WordPress Toolkit can update plugins and themes installed only from WordPress.org. Paid plugins installed from vendors' websites cannot be updated using WordPress Toolkit.
It's not convenient to update plugins from WordPress.org in the WordPress Toolkit and log into WordPress admin dashboard to update paid ones, so please implement this feature.
Especially considering that it's possible to update both free and paid plugins in the WP dashboard (in the menu "Updates").

WordPress Toolkit 4.7 now can update paid plugins & themes, if these updates are available in the WordPress admin area. Note that certain plugins and themes do not support automatic updates, but display notifications about update availability anyway. This particulal scenario isn’t fully supported yet.

  18. WordPress migration tool

    Add WordPress migration tool

Please add a WordPress migration tool where one can move the hole WordPress installation within a domain to another domain or subdomain,
    - on the same Server inside Plesk
    - to another Server with Plesk installation
    - to another Server with different OS like from Windows IIS to Linux Apache / NGINX (with rewriting the permissions from web.config to .htacces and all other necessary files and the other way round)
    Thanks.

WordPress Toolkit v2.0 adds the cloning functionality that allows you to create a copy of your WordPress instance anywhere on the same server.

Also, the latest version of Plesk Migrator enhances the WordPress Toolkit by adding the ability to take over remote WordPress instances, migrating them to your server.

Both extensions are available right now.

If you have any feedback about this functionality, please use our forum:
    https://talk.plesk.com/forums/plesk-extensions.725/.

    Hi!

The functionality is now available in the SSL It! Plesk Extension: https://ext.plesk.com/packages/3c4117f6-c05c-4d3b-9173-60f10096a9c4-sslit

    How to find it:
    1. install SSL It! Extension (it’s available for Plesk 17.8+)
    2. go to > SSL/TLS Certificates
    3. if there is no SSL Certificate installed on the domain – issue one (using, for example, free Let’s Encrypt SSL Certificate)
    4. if an SSL Certificate is installed on the domain, there is a switcher “OCSP Stapling”, turn it on
    5. Voila!

We would appreciate hearing your feedback on the implementation of this functionality. Thanks in advance!

  20. Change MySQL with MariaDB or possibility to chose

It seems that more and more start to change MySQL with MariaDB

"Specifically, Google is moving to its own customized version of MariaDB 10.0. This version of MariaDB is equivalent to MySQL 5.6. Google's version of MariaDB, according to Cole, is "Not really true 'forks' [but are] branches for internal use." He added that Google had been making its own tweaks to the MySQL DBMS family for years."
