mod_pagespeed for Apache can be considered, even though it does not really add value.
For instance, the Nginx + Apache stack with Nginx serving static content will make the Apache module relatively worthless.
ngx_pagespeed should NOT be introduced:
- it is very, very buggy, AND,
- it decreases performance of Nginx with a significant percentage, AND
- makes no sense in the Apache + Nginx stack (i.e. ngx_pagespeed is intended for a stand-alone Nginx, in the sense that Nginx functions as a webserver, not a proxy)
- again, does not add value, when compared to all possible directives of Nginx (that can do all the things ngx_pagespeed can do, but ten times better)Regards...

Google hasn't deprecated mod_pagespeed, only the Pagespeed service (same name, but not self hosted). Latest release is Oct 8th, 2015.

@tozz for hosting provider is better to permit to the customer to have an UI for enable/manage/disable the googlepagespeed, not all customer is programmer and know how the .htaccess must be edit.

@Andy Bird: So why dont you just install the module in Apache yourself? Its not rocket science.

We already use mod_pagespeed under Plesk in our Hosting but a native integration will be very
helpful!Thanks!!
