  1. Adding feasibility of downloading backup files via download management applications

Unfortunately, it's not possible to download backup files via applications such as internet download manager now, and this can be the reason of some problems for users (Failing downloads and repeating them) and hosts (ٌWasting bandwidth and other resources of servers).

  3. Separate rotation for backups hosted in clouds

When on Plesk server there is not much space, and on clouds (like Amazon S3), there is a lot - the separate rotation for backups would be useful: to set on Plesk to rotate frequently, and in the cloud - far more rarely.

  4. Plesk should recognize the failure of backup at FTP Storage as an emailable error.

In Scheduled Backup settings, you can tick; "if errors occur during the execution of this backup tasks send a notification email to...". However, if the backup is set up to go to FTP Storage and the FTP site can't be reached, the backup is done to the Server Storage and no error email is sent. This is a problem because if a few days of backups intended for FTP Storage fail and go to Server Storage, contracted server space could be exceeded causing Plesk to suspend / disable the site.

Plesk should complete the backup to the Server Storage, but…

  5. in case of backup: to add the domain name in the filename of the backup. That would be much easier to have a relation to the customer..

  6. Add possibility to restore password of FTP user at FTP backup repository

Add to Plesk option to retrieve password for FTP user specified in Plesk > Tools & Settings > Backup manager > Remote storage settings > FTP. The use-case is when user forgot his password for FTP repository and wants to restore it from Plesk interface.

  7. Restore Backup to alternative domain

WHen restoring a Backup it would be beneficial if you could restore it to a different domain so as not to overwrite the existing domain.

This is particularly useful as it allows you to access database / files to see what has changed since the backup was created to help identify issues/errors, but doesn't destroy the curent domain in the process.

(our existing workaround at the moment is to manually backup the database and files - restore the backup - back this up manually and then recreate it in a new subdomain, then restore the first manual backup into the…

  8. check backupsize befor restore and copy to server from external ftp

there wanted to be a check that first checks if enough free memory is available on the server before the recovery starts.
it is quite possible that backups fetched from an external ftp storage have around 50 to 100 gb or more and grow to over 200 gb after unpacking, just to recover the one file, unless it is done so well that only that one file is fetched from the archive that is also needed, e.g. when recovering one or more files for a web space.
