Set a senders email address for Plesk notifications
I am sending mails from an external server, my Plesk Servers do not even have mail setup. Plesk offers the option to send notification mails (like backup errors,...) using an external SMTP server, but all mails get sent using the mail address
root@servername.domain.tld
My SMTP server does not have this mail address or even domain setup. I would like to set a custom email address for Plesk to send mails from in order to not have to set up a domain and mail address for every Plesk server.
This feature has been added to Plesk version 18.0.45. It can be set in the panel.ini file.

I think its time for doing not consideration. Plesk notifications go to junk folders in outlook/hotmail & gmail. Unacceptable !

Mails sent by the server are @hostname.domain.tld which is ugly and may cause spam rejection in some cases. It's unbelievable that it now has a support page for the lacking feature, while it's been almost 4 years for this uservoice and it's still not implemented. Customizing the "From" or setting up an SMTP relay is basic email functionality that Plesk shouldn't skip on. Since the post of this uservoice, Plesk team should have been working on it.

@Scott What do you mean? Plesk supports TLS, STARTTLS and SSL since ages.

Scott McClannahan commented
While you are implementing this, you should also implement support for TLS and STARTTLS authentication as it has become the standard for most popular email services such as gmail and Office 365. Even organizations like ours who host our own exchange server require TLS b/c that is the recommendation by MS as well as many security standards.
The fact that PLESK currently does not support TLS is quickly making your product obsolete requiring extensive workarounds for our developers to implement and negating the "ease of use" plesk is known for.

I totally vouch for this! As I configured my admin email to be info@mydomain.be, i am not getting mails from Plesk classified as spam on my info@mydomain.be emailaddress!

Not that I know of, the config file i'm talking is kept every update.
/usr/local/psa/admin/share/pmmcli/pmmcli-rc -

But it will be overwritten on next plesk update as far I know of. Every changes trying to modify MSMTP is overwritte by using a build in Plesk template that is also replaced on every Plesk update. So changes won't last long. It should be simple to put some textboxes in the UI which an admin could update/change.

You can change the From mail in the Plesk config file manually.

Waited too long to simply set the configuration for the external mail server / mail sender options when sending mails/notifications from plesk. Especially when MSMTP is used.

We are also waiting for this feature. Especially with managed servers where our customers get additional admin account, but we manage the main admin account, it would be a MUST HAVE ...
- Customer creates a reseller
- Reseller receives email from "our company" although we shouldn't normally appear ...
That is a big problem ... -

Some features should not need so many votes in order to get considered as important. This is one of them.

It's completely crazy that this feature is missing. Sending an e-mail with both *to* AND *from* both set as the same address is an easy way to get marked as spam! Completely hopeless for critical notifications. We at least want the ability to set a global *from* address in the 'External SMTP Server' section. Mostly so that address can be unique to the thing sending notifications. e.g. server-name@company.com or plesk-on-server-name@company.com. This makes is miles easier for e-mail rules / ticketing systems to react to different servers screaming for attention all at once.

That this isn't already a feature is almost unacceptable.

We use a global sysadmin@domain.tld email address as the admin account on all servers. Our CMS software, WHMCS, retrieves email sent to sysadmin@domain.tld and converts them into support tickets. Because Plesk notification emails send from sysadmin@domain.tld to sysadmin@domain.tld, WHMCS anti-spam autoresponder detection declines to convert those notification emails into support tickets. This means we are not getting notifications from Plesk.
We need to change the from: email address so that WHMCS will acccept these emails as new tickets.

Here's a workaround for this:
Let's assume server domain name server.example.com.
1. Set up e-mail service on server.example.com
2. Change admin account e-mail to noreply@server.example.com (or anything you wish instead of noreply)
3. Set-up e-mail forwarding from noreply@server.example.com to your desired e-mail (ie admin@example.com).Now all e-mails go from noreply@server.example.com to noreply@server.example.com and get automatically forwarded to admin@example.com
This solution also keeps local copy of all notifications. You can also add additional admin account from "Tools & Settings > Security > Additional Administrator Accounts" if you also wish to use you personal name and e-mail for an account.
That way you don't need to rely on plesk e-mail settings to reset your password in the future. Password reset goes directly to your inbox. -

Even for mails sent from the same server, the sender address should be customizable.
