Delete mail after forwarding
I would like to use an E-Mail address as an outgoing E-Mail address with no postbox behind it. All E-Mails should be forwarded to another E-Mail address.
Currently you can set up forwarding but if you check "Use postbox" than the mails will be kept on the server although they have been forwarded. If you uncheck it, it is impossible to send emails from that address.
So please add at least an option to delete mails after forwarding them.
In Plesk 18.0.37 added the option to automatically remove emails forwarded from a mailbox in Plesk. The feature is disabled by default. To enable it, go to “Mail”, click the desired mailbox, open the “Forwarding” tab and select the “Do not deliver copies of forwarded emails to the Plesk mailbox” checkbox.
If you need this feature for Plesk for Windows, please vote here: https://plesk.uservoice.com/forums/184549/suggestions/44158872

I just updated my plesk to 18.0.37 and I don't see the new checkbox?
I'm on windows, was the checkbox added only in linux and not windows?

I cannot emphasize the importance of "delete upon forward" more highly. I just spent 5+ months migrating from an old data center running HSphere to a new shop running Plesk.
I have SO MANY clients who have mail boxes that forward to some other address. Since we don't have the "delete upon forward" that HSphere (very old, no longer supported) offered, my client (or myself) are going to be confronted with a significant volume of maintenance to clean out those forwarded addresses.
Please - how old does this thread have to become before it is taken as a high priority!

Hello,
our customers are asking for this feature and it is hard for them to understand why it isn't implemeted, because it is implemented in the most freemail services.
This seems like a easy thing to do, especially because this is implemented in so many mail solutions that also work in a postfix setup, where you can get code inspirations.
Please implement this feature, it's been close to 3 years now... -

Please add a setting, that lets you automatically delete all e-mails in your mailbox(after forwarding). This has become a very annoying problem, since you cannot send any e-mails without having a mailbox (=no forwarding). This means, you need to have a mailbox to set up your mail forwarding. Once your mailbox is full (because you cannot automatically delete them) everybody contacting you gets a bounce message. This Problem was already discussed in 2014. In 2018 you recognized the problem, but nothing happened. I kindly ask you to add this setting in near future.
Thank you!

UPDATE: I have found a workaround solution that works as good or better than other control panels. It turns out that roundcube has complex email filtering options so it is best to setup the forward and delete filters within the roundcube email settings per address instead of using the Plesk forward setting.

Yes I would like to see this done as well. I like to forward all of my domain email to a gmail account then setup SMTP in gmail for the accounts so I can reply from the domain email. This method allows me to check my mailboxes a lot easier, gives me more features, and saves space on my webserver/mailserver. I am new to Plesk and the lack of this feature may be a deal breaker. -

Most mail servers have this functionality. MailEnable, for example, does. You can get around the Plesk UI limitation by just logging in over RDP and editing the mailbox manually to not keep a copy. When the mail servers themselves have this feature - surely Plesk should be supporting it in the panel.

In most other mail systems that support forwarding you have two options: Forward-only, and forward and keep a copy in the mailbox. Those two options do not affect any existing mailbox that may exist, nor do they affect sending via SMTP.
In Plesk, you can only choose "forward and keep a copy". If you want to forward-only, you have to turn off the mailbox, which is not desirable in many situations. It prevents access to existing mail in the mailbox, and prevents sending via SMTP.

I have a mail box set up so I can send emails through it but I also receive emails that I forward to another email address. The problem is my mail box keeps getting filled up because it's set to only 100mb (which my service provider will not let me change). So it would be nice for it do delete the email from my mail box once it's forwarded. That should be an option I can check in settings.

I second this. I've got a couple of clients whose mailbox is used for huge files (TIF images, CAD stuff, etc) and they're going well above 10GB of space each one. It's insane.

Presently, if one turns on forwarding for an active mailbox, then Plesk keeps a copy of each forwarded message in that active mailbox. "Keep a copy" should be a separate option from "enable forwarding", so that one has the option to enable forwarding without clogging up an active but unused mailbox with copies of messages that have been forwarded elsewhere.
Alternatively, if I have misunderstood how this works at present, please let me know how I can forward messages sent to an active mailbox without disabling that mailbox.
Thanks!

Hello, personally I don't consider this a "new functionality" but actually a small bug, as something similar was offered before in Plesk and it is offered by all major "Control panel" vendors.
For the rationale why this is *needed*, please see https://talk.plesk.com/threads/cannot-authenticate-via-smtp-for-mail-users-with-mailbox-off-and-forwarding-on.284133/
Thanks!

again ++1, so many customers migrate to Office365 but they still want to have a hybrid mail system with linux mailboxes AND forwards other addresses to office365

Hello, we might do this function later, but it is not planned yet due large number of higher rated requests in our voting system. IF there is an urgent need, the best would be to apply workaround from @Tozz below or another alternative
