1. Custom labels in WP Toolkit

   This idea was already mentioned on: https://plesk.uservoice.com/forums/184549-feature-suggestions/suggestions/39722035-custom-labels-in-wp-toolkit-and-additional-filteri

   And to give some ideas of what custom labels could be added:
   - managed / unmanaged
   - notes about who manages the site
   - notes about special environments besides production / staging / ...

   It would be less work to not have to look up these informations for each site and be able to just add a short custom label. For us these labels do not need to be filtered, but it would be a nice-to-have to have this addition like described in the original thread.

   Custom labels are now available in WPT v6.0. Details:

   
   

   • All labels now require users to input a label text. 
   • Labels can have different colors (chosen from a predefined palette)
   • Labels can be private (visible only to the person who adds the label) or non-private (visible to and manageable by everyone who can access the site in WPT)
   • Several private labels (up to five) can be added to a single WP site at once
   • Only one non-private label per site can be added
   • Existing labels were converted to non-private labels with the same text (their color is a bit different, though)

2. Checking Wordpress Plugins/Themes against the Wpvulndb

   The Wordpress Toolkit utilities in Onyx are awesome, but it would be pretty cool it could also check currently installed plugins/themes(versions) against the WPScan Vulnerability Database https://wpvulndb.com/ or some similar service so that known vulnerabilities could be highlighted, or automatically forced to be updated...

3. include a .htaccess ->nginx converter

   Nginx on 11.5 does not support .htaccess files, which most of the CMS use.
   htaccess content should automatically be synced with nginx configuration, if nginx is the php processor.

5. backup local and remote at once

   I've seen many options for backups, but it would be a great addition if we could use the backup schedule to make a backup local AND somewhere remote.

   Now i can schedule backups either only local or only remote and since i cannot make multiple schedules for remote backups and local backups i have to make local backups with the scheduler and do things by hand to get another backup in my personal FTP storage.

   I prefer to have backups local, for quick restore availability and remote for when sh*t hits the fan.

   So, i'd like to see an option to either run multiple schedulers so you can run two, one to backup local and one to backup remote, or an option to make a backup local and automatically upload it to my personal share.

   I've seen many options for backups, but it would be a great addition if we could use the backup schedule to make a backup local AND somewhere remote.

6. FileManager ability to upload file to server by link

   In filemanager we have abilities to create empty file and upload file from PC. I want to get ability to set link and upload file to server. To install some app now I should download distributive from vendor's site to my local pc, then I should upload it via FTP/FM on server. I want to upload it to server directly to save my time and nerves.

7. Add SSH2 extension to PHP default extensions to improve security

   Hi,

   Please consider add SSH2 extension to PHP default available extensions.

   To be able to use FTP over SSH (SFTP) the SSH2 extension must be installed on PHP.

   IN SHORT: SFTP (SSH2 EXTENSION) = SECURITY

   SFTP means secure file transfer via Secure Shell (or SSH), hence the name SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). The two devices (server and client) communicate via a single channel, that of SSH, in which the remote file management commands are sent and where the file transfer takes place. By default, the only port required for SFTP is 22, the same as SSH.

   SFTP implements the same specifications at the cryptographic level supported by SSH, also TLS 1.3.

   WHAT ARE FTP AND SFTP:

   FTP is the traditional file transfer protocol. It’s a basic way of using the Internet to share files. SFTP (or Secure File Transfer Protocol) is an alternative to FTP that also allows you to transfer files, but adds a layer of security to the process. SFTP uses SSH (or secure shell) encryption to protect data as it’s being transferred. This means data is not exposed to outside entities on the Internet when it is sent to another party.

   Businesses often choose SFTP solutions due to enhanced security. However, many others still rely on FTP to facilitate data transfers. To better understand which file sharing option can meet your company’s needs, let’s look at the differences between SFTP vs. FTP. Understanding how these file transfer options differ will help you choose which option is best to transfer your data. There are three key areas in which SFTP vs. FTP differ: encryption, firewalls, and potential vulnerabilities.

   ENCRYPTION:

   Transferring data is a vital, day-to-day task for many businesses. While some data transfers may not require protection, other files may house sensitive information – information that is too sensitive to fall into the wrong hands. This is why encrypting your data is essential. Encryption scrambles data, making it decipherable only by the sender and the recipient, ensuring that even if a file is intercepted, it won’t be intelligible to any unintended parties.

   So, how does encryption impact your choice between SFTP vs. FTP? The traditional file transfer protocol (FTP) is a simple way of transferring data, but it offers nothing in terms of data protection. Files are transferred without encryption, making data readable for anyone who intercepts it. While this is fine if you’re just sending unimportant files, this could lead to major data compromises if you’re sending crucial data.

   SFTP, in contrast, offers a secure shell protecting files. Because files are encrypted, you don’t have to worry about data falling into the wrong hands. This is the ideal mode of transfer for any file that you want to protect. SFTP uses an encrypted type of fingerprint technology to first verify host keys before any data transfer has taken place.

   In terms of compliance, encryption makes a huge difference. If your organization is subject to compliance standards (including, but not limited to, the ones listed below), you could face serious consequences if you fail to encrypt data:

   HIPAA
   ITAR
   PCI-DSS
   SOX
   GLBA

   Encryption isn’t just a feature offered by SFTP that’s nice to have. It’s an essential step you should take to protect your data. If you fail to comply with these standards, your business could be subject to some serious fines.

   FIREWALLS:

   Another way in which FTP and SFTP differ is how channels are used. When you send files via FTP, this protocol needs to open multiple channels in order to complete the transfer. While the client and software negotiate these channels automatically, the client-side firewalls need to open multiple ports. Opening multiple channels can also open the client’s firewalls to vulnerability.

   SFTP presents a more secure process for the client-side firewall. Only port 22 will need to be open to send and receive data. This simplifies firewall configurations and is a better choice in terms of file sharing security.

   VULNERABILITIES:

   In addition to encryption and firewalls, SFTP beats FTP in terms of potential vulnerabilities, too. Any vulnerability can potentially be exploited and turned into a data breach. When it comes to inherent vulnerabilities in the file transfer process, FTP has a number of prominent ones.

   The first vulnerability is that FTP is prone to human error. Sending a file to the wrong recipient or sending the wrong file altogether can lead to some serious problems for your company. With a greater level of security provided by SFTP, you can minimize the potential for human error. You can also take steps to promote a culture of security awareness within your business to reduce the potential for human error.

   Intercepting data is simple with FTP, too. All it takes is the right tools and a little bit of knowledge to take advantage of these vulnerabilities. Even the most amateur hackers can intercept an FTP transfer. Sensitive data is often worth too much to risk a breach.

   Again, host keys can present vulnerabilities. Unlike SFTP which uses host keys to verify a recipient's identity before a transfer takes place, FTP does not. This is yet another way FTP transfers are less secure. All it takes is one accidental transfer to a wrong recipient for a file to be compromised.

   When it comes to secure data transfers, SFTP is your best option. You can feel confident that encryption measures are up to compliance standards, and you’re avoiding the inherent vulnerabilities of FTP transfers.

   Since Plesk Obsidian 18.0.49 that was published December 20th, 2022, the Plesk PHP configuration page in "Tools & Settings" has a new option where you can easily install PHP PECL packages. The SSH2 extension is a PECL package as described in https://pecl.php.net/package/ssh2. It can be installed right out of the Plesk user surface using the new PECL installer.

8. Enable/disable debug in Plesk via CLI

   The suggestion is to implement CLI utilities to enable/disable Plesk debug:

   plesk debug -enable
   enabled = on
   filter.priority = 7
   show.utilexec = on
   show.utilexec_io = on

   plesk debug -enable --sql
   The same as previous + show.sql_query = on

   plesk debug -disable

   Now it is necessary to remember panel.ini path (/usr/local/psa/admin/conf/), copy panel.ini.sample, then edit it manually every time. And the same procedure to disable it.

9. Plesk File Browser - Change Permissions recursive

   Yes of Course: Changing file- and Folder-persmissions is possible via SSH.

   But I couldn't tell my Clients to connect via SSH and give in commands they don't know. They will mail me and tell me how bad the Service is with such use-cases.

   Also changing via FTP Client is possible, but for example FileZilla will Need a Long time for changing an complex WordPress install with some thousand files. Or even worse Typo3 with couple of ten-thousands of files.

   I think extending the Plesk File Browser with an "recursive" Checkbox is really no big deal, but really good für UX :)

    The actual MailQueue status is useless, becaus the "status" of the email isnt viewed. This contains the important information for mails with problems.... Please expand it with the status, like it is done win Webim for example

    The auto-update is great, but it is even better to exclude plugins from the auto-update. Some plugins breaks the site or plugins are customized.

    Hey everyone, WordPress Toolkit v5.7 adds the ability to configure automatic updates for each individual plugin and theme on a site. This should allow you to exclude any plugins from autoupdates. Site-wide autoupdate policies were also adjusted accordingly.

14. Autoconfigure NGINX for WordPress Permalinks

    WordPress Permalinks are not working with Nginx.
    The Webpage shows the error: wordpress 404 ngix
    The URL-rewriting with other Permalinks than pageID is not working with Nginx.

    Implementing this seems not easy (for me), just when you also want to use a WP caching tool.

    We have addressed this request to a certain (reasonable) extent. Specifically:

    • WP permalinks will work if nginx works in the nginx-only mode for a website, serving FPM
    • WP permalinks won’t work if nginx is working as a proxy in front of Apache
    • WP permalinks won’t work in case of custom error pages.

15. Start docker container with additional parameters

    Usually, when I use existing docker images from docker-hub or even my own, there are plenty of options I would like to provide on start of a new container. Currently plesk does not support that. From the commandline a docker-container can be instantiated with several image-specific parameters. I would like to be able to do that from plesk , too.

    The Docker extension now supports launching a Portainer container. Portainer is container management software that makes it easier to manage Docker containers. 16. Remote logging feature for plesk

    Nginx with http/2 support is released for Plesk 12.5
    Also Nginx with http/2 support will be available in Plesk Onyx.

    As of now only the standard free Wordpress themes and plugins are available. This is kinda stupid since professional sites rely on professional themes and plugins being bought from reliable vendors.

    As such it even makes sense to remove all basic themes upon installation.

    The ideal option would be:
    1. Supply and store a custom Wordpress theme or plugin in Plesk (which might include also a Child-theme)
    2. Offer the option to supply that theme or plugin from 1. as standard to any Wordpress installation
    3. Offer the option to update/upgrade the theme or plugin centrally

    In themes it is for example Halfscreen from AIT-themes and for Plugins its especially WPML.

    Those options would save a lot of time and provide ready custom WP-installations out of the box.

    We have released the ability to upload and install custom plugins and themes in WPT 2.5. Uploaded plugins/themes are added to the plugin/theme pool and are available for installation. You can also add them to plugin/theme sets and preinstall them whenever a new subscription is created.

19. Redirect HTTP to HTTPS for Plesk Admin Interface

    It would be really nice to have Users directly redirected to SSL/https when calling Plesk with http.

    Parallels had tried this in the past, but it never worked for Mozilla Firefox. An universal solution would really be good.
