  3. email forwarding anti loop mechanism

Today it seems Plesk is not able to manage a simple mail forwarder configuration like the following:

pippo@domain.com (local address) forwarding to pluto@domain.com (local address)
pluto@domain.com (local address) forwarding to pippo@domain.com (local address)

This kind of configuration generates a mail-forwarding-loop, but it should be possible to avoid it and terminate the forwarding without issues.

This kind of configuration is simple and immediately working on cPanel based systems (tested on several systems). in my specific case, I migrated from cPanel to Plesk a company mail server and now I'm experiencing big complaints because I'm not able to preserve this simple…

  4. Add possibility to set "Can be used to log in to Plesk" unchecked by default during mail account creation

Creating mail account In Plesk panel Domains > example.com > Mail accounts > Create Email Address has an option "Can be used to log in to Plesk" which is checked by default.
There can be a situation when you can by mistake leave the option checked but you don't plan to permit to log in to Plesk with created mail account.
So it would be convenient to have this option unchecked by default.

Logging in to Plesk as the mailbox user will only allow that user to edit his own settings of that mailbox, e.g. the password. The effect of this option is marginal. We are also only talking about a preset change from "checked" to "unchecked". It's only a mouseclick to uncheck the box, and when the default is changed to "unchecked" other users will complain that they now need to check this box each time they add a mailbox.

As this feature did not become popular and as the setting is already optional we must decline it.

Both Plesk 12 for Windows and Linux are able to send out notifications with empty white list for local mail server:
    - Plesk for Linux uses sendmail CLI (so noe need in SMTP auth)
    - Plesk for Windows uses own, internal SMTP mail account for local mail server or a custom SMTP mail account in case of external mail server

  7. Overuse Policy: Overuse is not allowed + Grace Period

Right now there are 3 options:

    • Overuse is not allowed (this is preferred but will disable customers site once limit is hit)
    • Overuse of disk space and traffic is allowed
    • Overuse is allowed (not recommended)

    Scenario:

A resellers Overuse Policy is set to:
    Overuse is not allowed

That reseller has his warning set to 90% of his 10GB package.
But on 1 day, one of his customers uploads 2GB.

Effect: His total package has 12GB and the nightly run will disable his package, without warning.

Result: The reseller is angry because all of his customers are offline,
    only because one…

  11. Ability to exclude www for domain aliases when issue Let's Encrypt certificate

Currently in SSL It! extension the option is "Include a "www" subdomain for the domain and each selected alias". In that way the Let's Encrypt limit will take effect if many aliases exist in Plesk for domain.

For example, it is required to protect example.com, www.example.com and 50 aliases. In that way Let's encrypt will protect example.com, www.example.com and 100 aliases (50 without www and 50 with WWW) and it will hit the Let's Encrypt Limit.

  12. Add an option to disable reserved mailnames like root, postmaster, anonymous for domains

If the option What to do with mail for non-existent users set to Forward to address (also known as catch-all address) in Domains > example.com > Mail Settings, then email messages to mailboxes below are not being delivered to the forwarding email address:

    anonymous@example.com
    mailer-daemon@example.com
    drweb@example.com
    kluser@example.com
    postmaster@example.com
    root@example.com

Such mailboxes are present in the file /var/spool/postfix/plesk/virtual.db and mapped to be delivered to @localhost.localdomain:

    /usr/sbin/postmap -s /var/spool/postfix/plesk/virtual | grep example.com

    anonymous@example.com anonymous@localhost.localdomain
    mailer-daemon@example.com mailer-daemon@localhost.localdomain
    drweb@example.com drweb@localhost.localdomain
    kluser@example.com kluser@localhost.localdomain
    postmaster@example.com postmaster@localhost.localdomain
    root@example.com root@localhost.localdomain

Please consider to add an option to disable reserved mailnames…

Starting Plesk 18.0.66 we added the ability to stop accepting mail sent to preconfigured aliases such as root, postmaster, or anonymous on Plesk servers using Postfix or qmail as the mail server. By default, such emails are delivered to the Plesk administrator’s mailbox.

To allow accepting mail sent to one or more specific aliases, add the following lines to the panel.ini file, listing the desired aliases:

    [mail] adminAliases = alias1 alias2 .. aliasN

Mail sent to aliases that are not listed will no longer be delivered to the Plesk administrator’s mailbox. For example, to allow accepting mail sent to the root and postmaster aliases, but not to any others, add the following:

    [mail] adminAliases = root postmaster

and then run the following command:

    plesk repair mail -y

Thank you everyone for your suggestion and help to make Plesk better.

  15. Add in Plesk the possibility to work with a separate server for Email, like it´s possible for Mysql.

Today, the webserver must be together with Mailserver, for separated mail server I need to use Plesk Automation, but this increase the complexity and force me to use Centos 5.

I´d like to create 3 separeted plesk servers, one exclusively for email, another to Web and another for MYSQL.

This feature request is based on an insufficient use of the PHP mail() function. The mail() function has a fifth parameter by which users can easily set the "from" address (which is referred to as the "return path" in this feature request). If the "from" address is not explicitely set in that PHP function, PHP uses the system user und which it is executed as the mail sender. This is an expected behavior. It is left up to the software developer to fit his application with a suitable configuration option to set a sender address. This is nothing that webspace control panel can dictate. For that reason we must decline this request.

  17. Mail header changing when Plesk sends notifications

Add mail header changing when Plesk sends notifications about password retrieving.
As for now, it sends from no-reply@hostname and it would be great if I could change header "From" for example to support@example.com

  18. Outbound Mail filtering f.e. by X-Mailer could help preventing Spam

At least in Europe we have the problem that there are lots of phising mails f.e. a Vodafone Bill, Volksbank, Deutsche Telekom and all of them have X-Mailer: Blat inside. It would be great to filter emails by their header and reject some of them.

This is possible f.e. with qmail-scanner I guess...

  19. Custom Email Server Help Tips

The settings for mail servers have a help tip in the email addresses management page, and in the users' Plesk Account pages.

If a Plesk server is set up strictly as a mail server, and has DNS handled remotely, the settings in the Help Tips can be incorrect.

Currently the tips only show the server as the root domain even if the mail server's actual DNS points (as an example) mail.domain.tld to the server, requiring the settings to include the subdomain.

If I add the domain as "subdomain.domain.tld" in settings, then the server tips are correct but the…

  20. Implement client SSL certificates for authentication into mail

There is an option in Outlook, mail.app and other clients "authenticate using certificate". HOwever Plesk does not allow to use this client based method of authentication.
